What I am questioning is the bold part. He was a great fighter of course he was but a great man? I'm not so sure.
Standing tall and being proud of his race during a time when black people didn't have the same rights as whites; refusing to go to a pathetic war; giving countless amounts to charity:think. No- he's obviously a tit:roll:atsch. What do people have to do to get approval on here?
I thought he was a good man until I watched that documentary. I'm not normally one to overreact but he came across as a right ****. There's mind games and playing the bad guy to gain publicity but he more than overstepped the mark in that one.
Maybe so but you need to distinguish between Ali 'the fighter' and Ali 'the man'. There are plenty of fighters out there who do stupid **** to hype fights but you need to put it into perspective. He was also a very fired-up young man angry at the world he grew up in. Imagine how angry you'd have to be to throw away an Olympic Gold medal:think. On a personal level, he is very much a legend:good.
I've been alright Gaz mate, just been very busy as of late...and my lap top got stolen which explains my absence I guess from the forums these days!
You have to remember that docu was made with a specific agenda/ angle in mind. Its undeniable that Ali was OTT with Frazier and its easy to criticise looking back but those were VERY strange times he was living in esp. as he ended up being a spokesman for his race.
Atleast she was respectful. The same cannot be said about her cameo appearance in the Mayweather/Hatton 24/7 where she wished for Mayweather to get hurt:-(
take a look at the video. There is no misquoting or confusion, it's simply a seriously deluded/self-obsessed individual in full flow, yet again. It's been blindingly obvious for years that all this 'i'm a down-to-earth jack the lad' stuff is total bollocks. Not even the total humiliation against Pac has knocked some humility into him :-(. ...good grief.
Credit where credit is due to Hatton though Betty, you should be grateful to the bloke as judging by the content of your posts it seems he's pretty much solely responsible for your continued interest in the sport of boxing.
