When was the last time we got to see a fighter knocked out COLD in a big championship fight like in last night's fight. In boxing, it doesn't happen often, let alone during a championship fight. I can't remember or think of any championship fights that ended in that way, at least recently. I believe last night's result confirms that this was a match-up of an Elite vs non Elite fighter. Ricky was good enough to be the undisputed light welterweight champion, but I think we all knew he wasn't elite. This doesn't discredit Pacquiao's win by any means, as he annihiated the larger and to be thought stronger man in a way that no one had done so before. That's an accomplishment of itself and speaks louder than anything that can be written in record or paper. Leading up to this fight, after reviewing tape of each fighters last respective fights, I just couldn't see how Ricky could pull out a win over Pacquiao, unless Pacquiao had an off night and didn't follow his gamplan and Ricky had a perfect night . But I never imagined or thought Pacquiao would be able to control, dominate, or over power Hatton the same way he had done so to other fighters in the lower weight classes. To say we expected Pacquiao to win is one thing, but to see him actually get rid of Hatton in 2, out cold, is amazing and I'm sure exceeded everyone's expectations. This, in my opinion, confirms Pacquiao is a special fighter. If JMM made a statement with his win over Juan Diaz of being a potentially more than just the P4P king runner up, I think Pacquiao with last night's performance has just reaffirmed his standing as the #1 P4P fighter in boxing. Any thoughts?
