Hatton statement regarding Scott Quigg jumping ship

Very open indeed, thought it made for a very interesting read!

Scotts choice was an odd one it seems, he could have bult up by Goldenboy..but doesnt want to be??

 

Hatton basically carefully wording that to make him look good but if you read into it it pretty much says we can't do anything for you in the uk as we have no tv deal so go to America on our terms or sit on ur ass at home with no wages

I could feel an issue was coming because even after that we got him the chance to fight in the UK on a televised bill with ten weeks' notice. He refused again, this time stating he needed 12 weeks to prepare."

 

Havent read it but Quigg IMO done the right thing...how can you stick with a promoter who has no TV deal? as a fighter on the cusp of fighting for a world title and even if he had waited Boxnation isnt really the channel to be on for exposure.

 

Maybe some fighters would be happy with:

I suggest you read it then...Goldenboy had him lined up to feature in America

 

Sounds not a bad idea, me personally I'd feel more comfortable with a UK Deal / Promoter....stil lthink Quigg did the right thing.

 

There can be no doubt that the Quigg camp avoided the Frampton fight. I don't think he is scared but he wants to cash in on it at world title level rather than domestic or european. That is the sorry state of boxing. I don't see why they can't duke it out now and then again later.

I thought like you before reading it but now I'm not so sure on Quigg.

Obviously this is only Hattons side of the story and would be interesting to hear Scott's views (although a lot of what Hatton said can be verified by Goldenboy etc so I'd expect it to be not complete lies)

Does seem to me that Quigg (or the people around him) seemed adament on moving to Matchroom quite early on and therefore threw anything Hatton tried back in their faces. Maybe Eddie got his hook in earlier then anyone knew.

 

Interesting read , but two sides to every story and you would imagine quigg will have his own version of events.

Like others have said you would have to think he's made the right decision for his career.

 

Sounds like a lot of:

"I was going to do this", "I was just about to do that" etc etc.

 

Reminds of when Khan beat Salita then jumped to Golden Boy and Frank said "I'd agreed deals for Amir to fight Bradley, Maidana and Alexander next year"

 

From Quigg's point of view he's now in the right place. If he'd stayed with Hatton he'd be closer to a Frampton fight now which he's never wanted. Suppose you can't really blame him for not taking a fight he knows he'll get mullered in.
