Fighter-turned promoter and trainer Ricky Hatton is optimistic that Hatton Promotions will acquire a new TV deal as their contract with Sky Sports comes to an end on June 16th with their huge ‘Road to Glory’ card in Manchester.

The 33 year-old two-weight world champion was at Aston Villa’s Holte Suite over the weekend at a sportman’s dinner, where expressandstar.com picked up his comments on finding a new broadcast home for his fighters.

“I am positive, to say the least, when you look at the champions and challengers I have got and you look at my rivals, I am at an even keel,” said Hatton.

“I am also training fighters as well, I am in the gym every day. The boxing world doesn’t stop with Sky Sports, we have got other channels to go at.

“Channel Five have been doing a lot just lately and I have been impressed. Even BoxNation is getting more and more popular now.

“I know Frank ****** is my old enemy but I have never said that I wouldn’t work with him.

“ESPN are doing a little bit, ITV could come back again, all sorts of things could happen.”

Hatton currently has several big name domestic fighters in his stable, including Scott Quigg, Martin Murray, Ryan Rhodes and Ashley Theophane, which makes any deal a lucrative one for whoever agrees to a deal with the Manchester-based promoter.

ITV would be good. Even if they put the fights on ITV4 or something. Just the advertising being on ITV1 would be GREAT publicity for these fighters.

    No-one watches channel 5.

I wouldn't be suprised to see Hatton on ESPN due to the UFC looking to move away the channel

I don't think Boxnation would even want want him. Hatton brings very little to the table. How many extra subscriptions would Hatton's stable even be worth? 3'000 maybe 5'000 at the absolute best. Boxnation would be better just to buy more foreign fights.

The quotes are complete bogus, no way Hatton would say the following

“ESPN are doing a little bit, ITV could come back again, all sorts of things could happen.”

    it would be more like

"ESPN are doing a LICCLE bit......."
