I'm not. I'm deadly serious on this, study England-Germany. That is the tip of the iceberg. That was a game when he was under a lot of pressure to perform because its the only chance Capello gave him so far. If he gets regular starts he will flourish further.

He's like a taller more defensively astute version of Xavi, except he looks more like a milkman.

I suppose he may come good if HE is focal point - up to now he has been little more than a passenger, getting 10mins here and there or a start if someone gets injured.

Have you thought about Defoe up top with Rooney - he is hitting the net regularly this season.

Defoe always looks like he has headless chicken syndrome playing for England. And let's not forget, he literally offers nothing outside the box. Essentially he has legs on him and finishing, and if he's not hitting the net he's useless. And I'm not sure he gets the best out of the White Pele. Who knows if his ex-Spurs team-mate is threading balls through to him though.

I used to like Bent. He has height, pace, holds it up better than Defoe, seemed a good finisher for a while...and then he went to ****. He's started picking it up again so we'll see.

For now I'd just stick with the oaf until there is a clear alternative.

Owen is gone, imo, since he lost his pace, but amazingly he is still banging them in - for a poor side as well. Credit where credit is due, I suppose. He does little else in the game though.

Yeah, if you are thinking about Defoe you may as well just play Owen if he gets himself out of the treatment room.

They are both vertically retaded, but I'd rather bet my life on Owen scoring a guilt edged chance at this level. Neither offers anything elsewhere.

I think Owen is shot - unless the team plays to suit HIM, there is very little from him.

God knows how someone thought him and Viduka could play together, having seen Mark at length.

I think its quite clear where England's problems are.

    Keeper
    Right-back
    Central midfield pairing/Gerrard's partner*
    Striker

    *Solved

Overall, quite a lot of Capello to be thinking about despite his good start.

Yeah, given how well they have done, they do have a lot of weaknesses/questions to answer.

Well he is the only player to have scored hattricks in all four divisions, both cups and in an international.

God knows how he isn't in the Premiership, he has been eating Championship defences alive for the past seven years.

Together with Kevin Campbell, he kept you up a couple of years ago.

He used to score a fair few goals, he was pretty prolific relatively, but for some reason managers took a dislike to him and often left him on the bench. Albion were desperate for goals and still Robson left him on the bench. I thinks it's because he'd be pretty lazy and does not track back, work hard, or get involved. He's at Forest now I think.

    Keeper
    :
    Joe Hart - Underated IMO
Robert Green - Good Penalty stopper we need one of those:yep
Carlo Cudicini - if he has hasnt played for Italy yet
Manuel Almunia - Same as above but Spain for Italy

    Right-Back
    : Glen Johnson

Central-Mid: Barry/Carrick alongside Gerrard (anyone apart from Lampard really)

Striker: thats a hard one as there aren't many World-Class english strikers....apart from Rooney and thats debatable

if i had my way i'd also drop Terry as he has no pace/skill and if he didnt play for Chelsea wouldnt even get into the squad let alone captain the first eleven, Bring back Carragher:deal
