So could you please tell me how many goals you would need per position to be considered a "goalscorer" If I score 5 as a centre back am I a goalscorer? Its how many you score, not where you play. Christ you are dense. At least its not only boxing you have no comprehension of.
What I'm saying is, if Ronaldo doesn't score hundreds of goals from a wing position, that doesn't mean he isn't a true goalscorer, it just means he was playing in a position that wasn't beneficial to scoring goals. When given free reign, he shows his brilliant abilty to score goals. Berbatov has been the main man at Spurs for a couple of years and never shown himself to be a natural goalscorer. Even you can understand that, surely??
Tell me how many goals we need from Ronaldo, and how many from Berbatov, to be considered goalscorers I mean there must be some sort of arbitrary figure you've just made up for each. Maybe its based on some sort of equation, involving positions and ability to look most like Ricky Hatton
Give me a rough idea All I'm getting so far is that 18 for Ronaldo is a goal scorer, but 15 for Berbatov isn't, bearing in mind he plays for Tottenham Hotspur. I'm just wondering how many Berbs has to score, if this move goes ahead, to be considered a goal scorer :?
Well from the wing, I'd say anything above 12 league goals make you a goalscorer. As a striker for a free scoring Spurs side, I'd say you need 20+ league goals to be considered a good goalscorer. You also have to take into account who the goals were against and their finishing in general, y'know, using your eyes instead of stats....
If you went down the "using your eyes" route more often you'd see Hatton is a sack of ****, but you usually prefer to stick to whats on paper Anyway, not to get off track. He needs 20+ next season. I'll make a note to myself to remind you of your little theories on Berbatov's goal scoring abilities at the end of next season, if this goes ahead. Another thing, if I score 5 as a centre back am I a goal scorer? I mean that would fit in proportionately with the onourway Theory Of Goalscoring. Seems a bit absurd to consider a guy that scored 5 goals a goal scorer though eh?
You can't leave Hatton out of any debate, can you? I don't include defenders etc in goalscorer debates, because they're defenders for a reason. Most of their goals will come from scrambles off set pieces. Why would Berbatov scoring 20+ goals next season make him a proven goalscorer? He needs to prove it on a more consistent basis.
Hang on a second, you just told me Ronaldo was considered a goalscorer at the end of 2006/2007 when he had 17 goals. That was the first season he scored anything like that number, didn't seem to bother you when it fits in with your theory :yep Your arguments are straw thin, and easy to pick apart. You sound pretty worried Berbs will total 20+ too.
Do you know what 'open play' means? If you don't know how many he got from open play (I don't, but I know he takes pens) then just say so....:good
I think Robbie Keane takes penalties, and I don't remember him rising high above many defenders to nod in corners The stat should be roughly close, but I don't know precisely, this page doesn't account for it.
Ronaldo in 05/06 to 06/07 scored an average of 13 goals over the two seasons.... My criteria was over 12 goals would be great for a winger. So Ronaldo has two seasons of meeting criteria and one of smashing records.....so I think he's proven enough.... Berbatov scored nearly half his goals in games against Reading......
