I don't doubt the thread will be interesting (yep, your JC-Hops was a good post), just that you'll be able to change anyones mind one the issue!! Just be aware that most people who back Hatton up on here do not think he's an ATG or the best British boxer ever. Just that he's a decent world class British boxer who gets a bit of raw deal from some of the posters on here who are just railing against a popular fighter to get a bit of boxing 'cred':deal
I think I'd rather he fought Pavlik. However, I'm not in this delusional world that says Pavlik is Thomas Hearns, and boosts Joe immeasurably. This is a guy with one good win, we need a little perspective.
Hatton deserves credit for his wins over Tsyzu and Castillo, Calzaghe does over Hopkins as well. RJJ is a different matter though. I know this was not directed at me, but let us avoid bashing Calzaghe and Hatton in this thread eh? I actually entered it to say that I don't really see the purpose in a change of trainer now for Ricky, not now that he has 2 or 3 fights left tops.
Indeed. It's a question I've wanted to ask for a while, I don't think many have even attempted to answer it. I can't be arsed doing the thread tonight, I'll do it tomorrow morning.
Indeed, jokers Berbatov is not an out and out goalscorer, anyone who knows football can see this. It's just the way it is. That said, Ferguson doesn't always insist on out and out goalscorers or pace in his strikers. Tevez / Rooney and Hughes / Cantona are perhaps his 2 best partnerships and both lack pace and a natural finisher. Berbatov is a target man with a hint of class and he's always liked them. Hughes / Sheringham spring to mind. However one thing Ferguson always has looked for is genuine pace and goals on the wing. Sharpe, Kanchelskis, Giggs, Ronaldo. Beckham is the only real successful exception to this rule and he had his own outstanding qualities to compensate.
I don't see that Tevez and Rooney have proved themselves that good a partnership, if it wasn't for Ronaldos goals last season people would be asking serious questions about Tevez and Rooney playing together.
For what its worth I thought your Calzaghe/Hopkins record comparison threads were great. Also enjoyed reading your previous Hatton thread where you broke his career down in quite a lot of detail.
Can't really contribute to the footie discussion, sorry. Be surprised if Hatton does part company with trainer Graham though - probably just speculation.
Suppose not I really did not see them working together, perhaps I am approaching it from a position of low expectation I still wonder if Ferguson only acquired Tevez because he was available on loan In some of the European games he proved his worth though, he was fantastic against Barcelona in the second leg
Rooney and Tevez are fine. Not the perfect partnership, ideally you want some height and a guy that naturally leads the line, but they dovetail quite well. I don't see too many other partnerships I'd take over that.
