“I’ve learnt a lot of things with all the promoters I have worked with, some good, some bad. The way I was brought through [by Warren] was absolutely perfect. The right fights at the right time, plenty of fights and staying busy.

“If I would have had my way, I would have fought Kostya Tszyu two years before I did. But that would have been the wrong thing to do, I wouldn’t have been ready. When I did fight him it was exactly the right time. That’s what I have to do for our young boxers, get them the right type of fights at the right time.”

For me, Hatton definitely went flat as he strung out the WBU phase for 1-2 years too many. He only rediscovered his vim when the Tszyu fight started to become a possibility, and he got the bit between his teeth again. Probably starting with the Stewart fight.

He has done well in the long run, so I can see why he thinks that - but he should have stepped up a tad soonerIMO

Strange to hear him have these kind words for Warren though

stewart the guy that got knocked out in the contender a year later???

Hatton will do well as a promoter I am starting to think. boxers and fans like him, he has sky on his side and the goldenboy connections so he will be able to get world title fights if the time comes. would like to see Hayemaker join up with them, and see him get Froch a bit like Oscar did with Mosley and Hopkins.

Hatton is doing well and with his Sky contract it can only be a good thing for the British boxing fans.

I think Froch should sign with Hatton.

The worst I have ever seen him was just before he entered camp for the Urango fight..... there is a photo of him carrying a belt into the ring for Barrera (I think) with his 'Ray's Carpets' T-shirt on.

Fat, and I mean Arreola vs McCline fat!

He has a lot to thank FW for!!! without Frank he wouldn't be what or who he is today!! He's a product of great matchmaking and the right matches at the right time!! Tyszu is the perfect example..

    Oh great.

Hatton wasn't ready because he was being brought along slowly. He wasn't getting the right tests. Instead of making big step ups he was fed good but not great contenders.

Hatton was carried because Warren thought he was good but not great. Hatton only got Tszyu cos he was set to leave. Same reason Warren delivered for Calzaghe. He was scared they would leave and they ended up doing so anyway.

Pinto then Harris fell out, so a title fight all rested on Tszyu because Mayweathers name wasn't even mentioned.

Don't think Mayweather was at 140 until roundabout the Tszyu fight, and Hatton had the IBF ranking I believe, so it was always going to be Tszyu

Don't think he appeared on the Contender a year later - that was 03 if I recall correctly, and the contender only came out when, 07? Anyway, the point wasn't to do with Stewart, it was to do with Hatton getting his hunger back around the time he fought him.
