Witter has to bring something to the table and at the moment he brings very little but risk. The Witter fight will always be there for Hatton and he will more then likely take it at a later date.

    Doesn't have to bring ****.

He's been his rival for at least 8 years.

Hatton said Witter needed to become a world champ and Is. Bull**** thing to say when your only wbu champion at the time.

Had Witter In his contract then backed out.

Stopped 15 guys In a row Including some Ricky victims but winning earlier than Hatton.

If Witter had faced and beaten Malignaggi or Tores we would almost certainly be seening a Hatton V Witter contest very soon.

That's long overdue! He should have started his conquest of unifying by fighting Witter next. :(

Try telling Ricky that when he has the choice of selecting a lesser opponent, giving him 300,000 and then raking in 2 to 3 million from the fight or facing Junior and taking a Million and a half because the pot has to be more evenly shared because of Juniors increased name................I don't think I need to be a brain surgeon to work out which one i'd choose if I was him.....................but he'd get Universal respect I suppose.

Hang on a minute isn't the standard argument from Hatton fans that Witter isn't a big enough name to have earnt a fight, or that he wouldn't attract any real money to the table, or that he doesn't have a title (oh **** can't use that one any more :yep )

Now if either of the first two standard Hatton ***** excuses were true then surely that means that Witter wouldn't get a 50-50 split for the fight? I think if Hatton took 2-3 million for a fight with Witter and gave Witter 300 grand then Witter would just take it for the chance to finally knock the clown out, safe in the knowledge that the big money would follow soon after.

Hatton has shamelessly ducked Witter for the best part of 5 years now and that's being generous, it's probably longer. He's waiting for Witter to get old or lose, then he would suddenly become a realistic opponent for Hatton - a quick look at Hattons record backs that up with the exception of the Mayweather fight.

Like I said above . . . this is long overdue. There's nowhere for him to go. He'll get starched again if he ever try to go up to 147 and he can't make 135. So the best he can do is unify then retire.

Its all opinion mate,I don't see Ricky has ducked anyone but you see it different fine.....but lets not pretend Junior would'nt only want this fight for the money, there's no-way he will let Ricky take most of the money and when he states that he'd fight him for next to nothing and that money is'nt an issue its about the respect.....utter bollocks.....but then again its about opinion and I rerspect everyone's I just think its wrong.

Agree! Malignaggi and Torres after Lazcano. Witter next year. The Witter fight will not go away so why bother fighting him now and let Malignaggi get beat by someone less marketable? Take the fight in New York, come back home to take on Torres and then a big domestic fight with Witter.

I can see Pac in there at some point too if he beats Diaz. Dont really think that that would achieve anything for Ricky though

As a Hatton fight I do want to see him take on Witter. Just dont see the point in taking him on next when the other title holders may not be around as long. Witter wont go anywhere for the next 18 months so let him wait and let 2009 give us a massive retirement fight for both men!

the same junior witter who said he'd fight hatton for nothing?

the same junior witter who said he'd fight hatton in a winner takes all match?

yeah thought so, hatton is running scared from witter.

    true story. :yep
