Er....no he didn't. Did you watch the fight? No, I don't. How do you reckon he wins? Stoppage or decision?
I can see where this is going and I'm not going to get into a childish discussion on semantics with you but Hatton-Malingaggi didn't go the distance and Hatton won, therefore Hatton stopped him.
:-(You really have no idea do you.Stick to lifting weights Scurla. Hattons overall skills are criminally underated and so is his speed, his footwork is actually very good,he's bloody quick on his feet too.Really take off those HateOvision specs and watch with an honest eye.
Some interesting theories. Main thing for me is that Pacs a primarily a straight puncher. Even his hooks are straight, arked punches. His right hook, usually a good punch for a southpaw, simply creates openings for his straight left and is rarely thrown with any real power. The beauty of straight punching is it requires much less energy then winding up a hook and allows much less time to capatilise if it misses. This coupled with his unpredictable movemnent and punch patterns is a nightmare for anyone slow to react. De La Hoya and Barrera were left hookers. While the left hook is usually a good punch to catch a southpaw, two things stopped them using it effectively. Pacs erratic movement and the fast clusters of shots. Additionally if you rely heavily on the left hook you often find yourself coming square on so that it is always half cocked ready to throw. This square on stance creates an opening for Pacs dager punch... the straight left. [yt]Viuaf8aLWoU&feature=channel[/yt] [yt]GsQdLlElxU0&feature=related[/yt] The way Marquez 'shut out' Pac was by taking away that straight left using intelligent movement to the left and dipping to his right usually countering in the process. Marquez's natural stance also assisted him- Its rare to see a mexican adopting such a high left hand. He's done this throughout his career and by doing so presents a much narrower target. [yt]Fn9EYYMHtdM&feature=related[/yt] Morales intelligent rangy style also allowed him to stay away from pacs offence in their first fight but his subsequent annihilation was almost entirely down to his vulnerability to - you guessed it- the straight left. Look where his right hand is... This after umpteen rounds with him. [yt]GaXXEXG9hUg&feature=related[/yt] Hatton naturally carries his right hand slightly in front of his chin. He is also fast enough on his feet to react to Pacs flurries. The danger punch for Hatton (pre check hook :nut) was always the right hook and I don't feel Pac throws it with enough power to hurt him. I also think if he tries to set up the straight left using the right hook. It will only serve to warn Hatton of the incoming danger. Hattons head movement and lateral movement also presents something different to the flat footed mexicans he has been beating (Marquez aside) I don't expect Hatton to be able to 'Ruiz' Pac but I wouldn't be suprised to see him smother Manny against the ropes. I don't think Manny will be able to fight effectively of the ropes. He will flurry and try to get back to center ring. He has also been stopped twice by body shots. Ok many moons ago but who has worked his body effectively since? Note the absence of the straight left which allowed these body shots to score. [yt]O4qwBzJKrXY&feature=related[/yt] [yt]pHxHNC0ntUg&feature=related[/yt] My hunch is Hatton eventually pins him on the ropes and stops him with a body punch in the Mid-later rounds. The fight hinges entirely on Pacs effectiveness to score with the straight left.
Interesting thoughts - I will be honest in that I hadn't looked that deep into this one.... Collazo was able to catch Hatton lunging in pretty much at will with his right hook, whilst Hatton's clever use of a straight right hand lead perhaps edged him the fight together with the KD. I would be surprised to see Hatton lunging in so recklessly in this one, but more use of the straight right hand (as is the Mayweather style)..... the training vids have shown Hatton stepping to the right - if this turns out to be the case I guess they are looking to shorten the range and force Pac almost into hooking with the left rather than being able to fire the left as straight as an arrow.
Very good post that Thomas and much of what you say I agree with however I still maintain a straight right down the pipe as a counter is the shot to to put a lefty away with.Lefties aint that tricky, the trick is to make sure your lead leg is allways inside their lead leg,it corrects the angle and makes the left easier to hit, especially with right hand to the chin and a half step and left hook behind the southpaws lead behind the elbow.
A good post there Beeston, you make some good points.Regarding the Collazo fight I dident think it was as hard a fight as many did,yes many of the rounds may have been closely contended especialy the last few as Hatton tired but Ricky won the vast majority of those rounds close or not.
He didn't cut off the ring and force Mayweather to the ropes, he mainly just rushed at him. Plus you forget that Mayweather fights off the ropes a lot, if he'd wanted to he could've easily kept it centre ring.
so hatton can't cut off the ring, whichever people on this boxing forum think this, you better give up on this boxing lark and consontrate on,oh i dont know, tiddliewinks or crown green bowling.atsch jeff, great post mate, top bannana. hatton will stop him,by cutting off the ring, turning him and well, just hitting the ****er till he stops him:bbb:hey
I think Hatton is going to get stopped I think he is shot He beat Malingagni - but that was a easy one sided fight against a weak puncher I think Hatton has been on the downward slide since Mayweather KO'd him I think in a tough fight he will look old and sluggish This is not the Hatton of 2005 Hatton has had a tough career - and eat and drunk too much **** If Manny Pac can do that to a big guy like De La Hoya he smash Hatton to pieces You might say........................BUT OSCAR WAS SHOT But I believe - HATTON IS SHOT TOO Manny Pac by TKO in 7 rounds
