Floyd could have fought Hatton standing on one leg and still beaten him senseless. He is a much, much better boxer than Ricky. Live with the reality. Hatton's a good fighter, and seems like a classy, down-to-earth guy. But the excuse making on the part of his fans is just sad. Clean fight, dirty fight, same ref, different ref, blindfolded, Mayweather wins. Every time. No exceptions. Put this fantasy to bed already. On to Hopkins-Calzaghe.

That's not a good answer to our question. Again, why does he need to cheat if he's so superior?

Floyd looked absolutely TERRIFIED in his fight against Hatton.

PS: I'm not a Hatton fan, I am unbiased. I just have questions for the Floyd fans.

Virtually every successful fighter cheats in one way or another: Hopkins, Calzaghe, Hatton, whoever. It's the nature of the sport, or any sport for that matter, to try to get away with what you can to win. To argue that Floyd cheated but Hatton doesn't or didn't is naive and probably self-deluded. It's trying to find a way to deny the truth, that he simply wasn't good enough to win.

Number 1, he hardly looked terrified. He was very composed the entire fight. Number 2, Floyd has been using his forearms as a defensive tactic his entire career. It's only natural that he does it with a guy that it is constantly rushing in and grabbing like Ricky was. He could've kept moving and jabbing the whole fight, but that would've wasted alot of energy and lead to a boring fight. I think his gameplan was to let Ricky rush in on him and gas himself out by hugging and throwing unneccesary punches that didn't land cleanly. If you look at the later rounds, you'll see Floyd did a great job of moving latterally when he chose to. In the later rounds Floyd still looked fresh while Ricky was visibly worn.

I'd look pretty worn too if I'd taken so many elbows to the throat.

It's not like Floyd was throwing elbows, the forearm was being pressed against Hatton after he kept trying to crowd Mayweather. What was really wearing him down were the flush straight rights and left hooks that he was being hit with. Him grappling and missing with alot of his punches didn't help either.

You guys are so funny. You really can't come to terms witht he fact that Mayweather cleanly outboxed Hatton all night can you? Sure, there were a few moments where their styles clashed and it made for some ugly, awkward movments, but seriously, you honestly think that Hatton, the guy who barley beat Collazo and a very, very green Urango, could have stood a chance in that ring against Mayweather? Honestly? You're grabbing for straws, and it makes you look pathetic. I get it, you're just mad you wasted all the money to fly out to vegas and couldn't get a decent fish n chips anywhere.

I said this during the fight, I said it after the fight and I'll say it again.
    JOE CORTEZ was a disgrace!

Being a welshman i`m all for Floyd winnin against an englishman but it does send shivers through me to think the best in the business will get nowhere against a 43yr old pensioner.
If Joe did fight like how Floyd fights when the going gets tough he would be a muppet, a winner no doubt but wat a shambles to put all that hard werk in training for 10 wks and then put on a wank performance cause the other guy is abit tough like.

I was rooting for Hatton and am a fan, and felt bad for the British fans who really love him and support him, but this is just sad now. Like little kids who can't accept that there's no Easter Bunny.

Hatton kept rushing into the elbows. If he can't control himself when he crowds and grapples, is that PBF fault? Not really. Cortez did break up the fight a lot, but isn't a wrestling match. Last I heard boxing was about punching, counters, etc. not so much as grabbing, holding, and WHINING:| .

No kidding, Floyd was trying to BOX. If Hatton had tried to actualy do this, it might have looked a little more clean. Instead, Hatton tried to dry-hump all over Floyd. Hatton was the disgrace, not Cortez.

Come on! it is not like he lost on points. He lost by KO. Yes Floyd was holding, I just see it as a strategy against Hatton and that proved that Hatton didn't had one against Floyd and that also proved Hatton didn't had a plan B or C.

Hatton clinches and hit you on the inside, that is always his plan, Floyd neutralized that and Hatton didn't knew what to do. Yes Cortez sucked, I was very disappointed by him but I don't see what is the point on calling Floyd a cheater when he used the same tactics that Hatton has used all his career.

That's because he didn't! And that's the exact point I am making.

Again, I'm not even a Hatton fan, I can view all this from an unbiased perspective, and Floyd didn't put on a masterclass like "the best boxer in the world" should have.

I hope there is a rematch down the line. Hatton lost the fight fair enough , but the ref was all in PBFs favour.
