watch the fight, mosley was walking down cotto and in that fight he was the pressure fighter, throughout his career his chosen to be the pressure fighter. watch the fights against johnson, lieja, taylor, forrest, vargas and winky. he would be an excellent boxer because he has all the tools, but he chooses to fight.
i'll take it then that the only shane mosley fight that you've seen is the margarito one. early in his career mosley's plan was to be physically ready for the fight. and when he got into the ring there aint no special game plan, all mosley planned to do in the ring was fight. in the mayorga fight, he saw that he had been out fought by someone who shouldn't have been a problem for mosley. he knew things had to changed, so naazim richardson came in and with him a new style of boxing. early in his career mosley he rarely used the jab, in his victory over margarito the most important punch for mosley was the jab. he stopped margarito from walking him down and set up the over hand right. the sugar shane mosley that fought margarito, and the one who will continue to fight will be more of a boxer, because he is no longer in his prime and out fight people. he has to call on skills that he didn't have to in his prime when he was knocking out fighter for fun. watch the cotto mosley fight, its obvious to see who the pressure fighter is.
Cotto was not backing away from Mosley in that fight, Mosley was not in his chest and thats what a great pressure fighter does. Mosely is to well rounded to be called a 'pressure fighter' he doesn't close the ring well enough. Watch the way Hatton closes the ring and the speed in which he does so. He fights in the chest then clinches when he's finished. Mosely fights at a different range and outguns his opposistion then holds. Mosley is not a pressure fighter for me.
[YT]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfpybbJF4wU[/YT] The effective pressure in this fight comes from Cotto IMO
mosley was one punch away from knocking cotto out, just admit it kid you haven't seen the fight and are trying to make up **** as you go along. getting into the other guys face doesn't make you a great pressure fighter, at 135 mosley was an excellent pressure fighter. but if he got in close then it would suit the other fighter as he would be able to make their uppercuts and hooks. a great pressure fighter is someone who can walk down a fighter and fight at a destance where they can unleash at their best. all hatton does is hug and hit, and when that aint working the low blows and head butts come out.
A great pressure fighter is someone who can walk down their opponent? At what point did Mosley even back Cotto up in that fight? not once was Cotto in the posistion where he was trapped and had to fight it out... Cotto was coming forward more than Mosley, thats why he aint a pressure fighter. Hatton does not just hit and hold, watch his last fight and most of his career.
in round 9 i think it was mosley hits cotto and he falls back on to the rope, mosley goes in for the kill and the ref stops him and says that theres water on the floor. loading up a ten minute highlight doesn't mean you've seen the fight, and for you to ask that question just makes me more certain that you never saw the fight. cotto backed mosley up, and mosley backed cotto up. when you have two pressure fighters that is what ends up happening. i've watched most of hattons career, all he does is hug and hit, against the shot castillo that is all he did. against tszyu the hug and hit wasn't working so the low blows, headbuts, elbows and rabbit punches all came out. against mayweather he wasn't allowed to hug and hit and so was lost in the ring and never knew what to do.
it was Mosley's fault the ref stopped it lol...Mosley slipped, Cotto wasnt really hurt or anything, he was on the ropes a lot during that fight cuz like u said, Mosley was the agressor....
They never ****ing backed each other up, they fought in the centre of the ring. Each of their best work was in the centre, not even in a corner. Its clear you have not seen one fight of Hatton pre Tzsyu. I won't humour you with any response regarding Hatton as you don't have a clue. Erm can you show me a link to Hatton headbutting someone please? I must have missed this
yes that's exactly what i'm saying. hatton beat (made him quit on his stool) the p4p #3 in a hard battle. cotto's very close win was good but mosely wasn't in the top 10 p4p let alone top 3. and mosely and koysta were about the same age when they fought i think. hatton took koysta hardest punches and gace him some back, and i wouldn't say mosely punches harder than koysta, they're both big punchers. the malignaggi that fought hatton was more experienced and a belt holder, but hatton outclassed him barely losing a round as opposed to cotto who lost rounds to malignaggi. ok, but torres had never fought for a belt before fighting cotto.
