Hatton done well. He won every round bar the first against the legitimate #2 in the division. Plenty were tipping a Hatton defeat before the fight so its unfair to play Paulie down now. Hatton dominated and showed that he wont be beaten at 140.

147 is a different matter for me though. Hopefully after a few more months with Floyd though Hatton will regain his decision making and bang when the opportunity presents itself. After just 7 weeks with a new trainer, Hatton looked back to his old self with his jab. Agree that his movement could have been better and he could have let his hands go a little more but all in all this was an impressive performance and I agree with Darke and Watt that this was his best since Tszyu.

Warm up in March ready for a summer rumble with Oscar/Pac in August anyone?

I wish I understood what the term 'elite' meant! And, who decides if a boxer is 'elite'?

It it measured by skill-set rather than achievement? Is Dawson, Vitali or Pavlik 'elite'?

    Thank you:good:D

I never said i wasnt bias against Hatton cause i am...and like stirring **** on the subject and am a bit of a **** taker in truth.

I actually only had Paulie winning round 1 and since verylittle happened in round 4 and 5 he could have got something out of either of them..

Serious talk now, i still dont think Hatton knew exactly what to do, whether to box or fight and was very open to counter punches.

My head wouldnt fit up my arse clearly!

One for the Hatton haters in today's Martin Kelner column.

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/blog/2008/nov/24/boxing-rickyhatton-paulie-malignaggi

"Ricky's unvarying opening line - "It's a pleasure to be standing before a crowd of people without someone trying to smash my ****ing face in..." - is becoming as well worn as John Prescott's microwave. I have heard it at least three times, and I am not a person that gets out much. Similarly, the gag about his diminutive father Ray's passport picture being full length."

Who regarded Paulie as the next best? He was the number 1 contender at 140 according to The Ring magazine.

    (and I didn't call you a hater):good

What's so funny about that, Witter wasn't/isn't a bad fighter, though the fact that he got to #1 contender, however, briefly does tell you the division is not that strong!

Kotelnik, bradley, witter, holt, torres,.Did u actually think its a struggle to name 5 fighters that would beat malignaggi ? He made his name standing up in a beating from cotto, tough, thats all. He's struggled with one dimensional n'dou and now after that showing with hatton, which proved nothing but his toughness again. Witter might be a bit tired now, but any of those i mentioned i'm confident could beat him.
