I honestly think Paulie might pull it of by popping enough taps to get his points and running around. But I'll be pulling for Hatton to land a good body shot to take this clowns legs out the equation and win the fight. Paulie was brutalized by Cotto but lasted the whole fight. So Hatton is going to have a hard time trying to land a solid shot, Ricky will have to bully him around and manhandle his ass. Go Hatton!!!!
Foot speed, Stamina, Reflexes...etc. Pretty much everything isn't as sharp. People talk about different versions cause guess what there is different versions....try watching some of Paulie's better preformances as compared to how he's been fighting lately.
What are his better performances?Paulie getting beat up by Cotto, is that one of his better performances? I saw him do nothing but jab LW Edner Cherry in a painfully boring match(even Paulie admitted it was boring). I saw him do a great job of contstantly hitting glorfied journeyman N'Dou with jabs and straight rights. I can't speak much about his reflexes as he's been easy to hit. Cotto busted him up with left hooks, even in that first N'Dou fight he suffered a cut and was hit with plenty of left hooks. Let's not even talk about his last two fights, we all saw what happened in those fights. Tell me, what Paulie fights have you watched that I didn't cover? Maybe I'm missing something. I see a guy with no power, little offensive variety, and a leaky defense. People seem to be able to get to Paulie relatively easily for a guy that supposedly has such good movement.
I agree with basically everything your say accept the fact that you don't like people talking in terms of this version and that version. Thats rediculous. Then to show how rediculous your statement is, in backing up your clame you say "lets not even talk about his last two fights".....oops....well thats kinda exactly what we are doing. And as far as the first Ndou fight went, Paulie didn't drop a round in that fight. And he should have lost the second fight. And in the that second fight (this is the important part) he looked like a much worse fighter. You can call it a much worse preformance if you really want to. I prefer my way though.
As he's a bit of an outsider I'm going to have a small wager on Pauli to win on points. I don't think it's a clear cut fight.
I'm not decided yet who to pick . . . but I can see an upset in the making. Paullie is really capable of winning it by decission.
I don't like the versions argument in Paulie's case due to the fact that I don't see a material change in his style. Paulie has his limitations. Fighters are able to see this on film or remember it from previous fights. They then can make adjustments accordingly. Fighters never look exactly the same every fight. They fight guys with different styles; forcing them and the other fighter to make adjustments. Look at Chad Dawson. He didn't look as good against Johnson as he has in his previous fights. Now did a different version show up? I don't think so. I think what his opponent was able to do in the ring was the reason he didn't look as sharp as he has in other fights. Now there are some cases where fighters have made a material change in their style; either due to them getting older or just getting better. I don't think this is the case with Paulie. Paulie needs a guy who will come in face first and pressure him the whole fight. Ngoudjo made him come to him at times, which Paulie aditted took him out of his game. N'Dou had already faced Paulie, so it's not a stretch to believe he could adjust and give a better effort than he did the first time he fought Paulie.
hatton probably will knock him down once or twice, other than that hatton by UD will be too strong for paulie
