Ricky Hatton versus the other top Welterweights from the UK... Lloyd Honeyghan Colin Jones Kirkland Laing Ted Kid Lewis Ernie Roderick John H Stracey Dave Green How does he do?
I don't about all of them... But I think Hatton vs Honeyghan might have been good. Although I think Lloyd might have beaten.
I Like Ricky Hatton a lot at Jr Welter, But at Welter their was something of a strength and power shortage against Genuine Welters, If he can not "Rag-Doll" them or Hurt them sufficiently to discourage them, then at best, a long haul slog awaits him, Colin Jones...I'm afraid Ricky trying to pressure the fierce hitting welsh Dragon is a real recipe for disaster for him, Honeyghan could mix it up well may of Jumped on Ricky like he did Messers Bumphus and Hatcher or the return against Vaca, I dont think Ricky has much chance of outboxing or outslugging Lloyd, Likewise Ted and Ernie, Particularly Ted, so not much success here, John H Stracey, On Form had that Constant Jab with the hard punches ready to unload once the opponent was softened up, He was not the most co-ordinated , but was strong, it could be a tit-fo-tat battle early but Stracey would come on for a late stoppage i feel, and Dave boy Green, Had to move up from Jr Welter Unlike Hatton, Not a Big Puncher, more a Solid "Biffer" but he kept it coming unless up against a top Puncher/Performer , Ricky can win this, his more compact style allowing him to operate within the Arc of Greens Punches, particularly that Slashing Muckspreader right Hand, Dave gave Palomino gave Ricky torrid time before Carlos nailed him, so never easy but i think he could come home on points in a barn-burner... Kirkland Laing....Which Kirk turns up . Does he Zig when he should Zag ? if he could beat even a subdued Duran he could Beat Hatton...But if Buck Smith can get Lucky perhaps Ricky's persistence will find it's reward with a late stoppage...But with Kirk you can never tell... Ricky, the Natural Jr Welter might scrape a Couple of wins...but the Aforementioned, at their best were no soft touches.
