Trinidad purposefully low blowed Vargas and it made a difference in the fight. Not saying Tito would have lost but I feel maybe Vargas himself would not have ran out of steam and get blitzed in round 12.

Vargas is far superior to Hatton. Vargas stood toe to toe with some atg's. Hatton beat 2 great over the hill fighters.

    Vargas was the superior fighter.
He started taking on world-class opposition very quickly and although his prime was cut short by Tito, he was always competitive as well as entertaining.
Ricky's a nice guy but I hate excessive clinching and wrestling - a lot of his fights were borderline un-watchable.
Vargas fought better competition and was just plain better.
I don't think either guy should be guaranteed a spot in Canasota though.

I'm afraid to say that Ricky Hatton is one of the most overrated fighters in the history of the sport. He was sent down the path of least resistance under Warren, wrapped in cotton wool for the first 38 fights of his career while certain types of fighter were thoroughly avoided at all costs, in fact anyone ranked was generally avoided.

Hatton fans will always say that he lost to two of the greatest fighters who ever laced 'em up, however, the reality is that these brutal KOs could have, and indeed should have happened much earlier on in his career against lesser men than Manny and Floyd.

I would take the shop-worn, 31 year old 6 losses, Zab Judah over any version of Ricky Hatton.

Hear ****ing hear! Iv been syaing this for nigh on a decade on ESB but none of these guys would listen. Would you take Hatton over a prime Judah who Witter fought and Hatton avoided? Hatton has ALWAYS had trouble with fast southpaws. Espcially the ones who could punch. Thaxton cut him to ribbons Magee nearly stopped him and dropped him heavily to the seat of his pants with a right hook. FW and Hatton refused to even entertain Witter and rightfully so. Because there sham would have been exposed.Hatton avoided the best fighters on his march to the top and paltry excuse that he failed against the best is infantile and stupid to the extreme. He would have been exposed a long long time ago had he stepped up to the plate. Every person that he was mandatory for he CHOSE NOT TO FIGHT. Too many here seem to convinently forget that fact.

Dont compare him to DLH. Its not close. If you want to compare popularity compare him to Ottke who was also VERY popular at home despite having a boring and non crowd pleasing style. He would rountinely sell out arena's and make millions in the process hence why he never fought Calzaghe.

hatton was more then about selling tickets his popularity trancends that. if ottke came over here to fight joe cal do you think he would bring 35,000 fans with him?

Very true. But my comparison was about his popularity at home. Not his travelling hoards of fans. That itself is a unique feat no question about that as no boxer has ever had that kind of support abroad from travelling fans. Either way they were all duped because of there feeble football mentality and should demand there money back.

Hatton’s a brand, a product, nothing more, nothing less. Popularity does not bequeath greatness, how many more times does the poor lad need to be brutally knocked out before his fans realise this?

thats ridiculous, they dont ask for there money back when they go to see there favourite football team away from home and get thrased 5-0 why would this be any different? nobody was duped there fans of ricky and followed him around the world that should not be mocked.
