After last nights performance we all now know Ricky Hatton is the dominant light welterweight in the world. And lets be fare, he did dominate Malignaggi from start to finish. Which gets me on my point. Cotto beat Malignaggi in pretty convincing fashion and so did Hatton. Cotto was a very good fighter at light welterweight and i was just wondering who would win this one at 140?

I personally think it would be a good fight but id still have to go with Cotto. Im a big fan of Hattons but i just dont think he could manage a full twelve rounds with a fast, hard punching fighter like Cotto.

    Any thoughts?

Hatton will not be beaten at 140 just like he said himself.

its funny to see people flip flop from fight to fight...

Ive always said this would be a bad ass fight... i can really see it going both ways, i HAVE to favor cotto.... he can really put the hurt on, has a devistating body attack (which i think could really hurt hatton) has decent boxing skills... i dont think he would get outmuscled by hatton.

That being said... I could see Hatton outworking Cotto, putting him off his rythem, making him fight HIS fight, toughening it out... and winning a decision.

This fight would be one bad ass fight i tell you that much (like it has to be said lol) and would just be an instant classic imo.

I will say i think Cotto stops Hatton late by accumilation punishment, but that is in no way a sight on Hatton, i just think Cotto is the bigger guy, who will put a big hurting on Hattons body and wont be muscled around or outboxed, i wouldnt be suprised if he was outfought, and Hatton wins a close decision... but if i had to bet all my money id put it on Cotto...

Close fight, great fight... would love to see it. Bit of a size differance but would still like to see it.

Pretty much the same way i see it. It is possible for both guys to win but like you say, Cotto has to be the slight fave.

This fight simply won't happen at 140lb, not a chance of Cotto dropping down for Hatton. IF it did then Hatton beats a weight drained Cotto. At 147lbs Cotto should beat Hatton (who has never looked good at 147).
