Hatton is stronger but not as smart as COTTO. Cotto puts hatton to sleep because Hatton defence is wide open, if you watch boxing long enough you can see he lunges in. BOOM!Hatton can get inside constantly then Miguel will get TKO'ed coz we know Hatton won't quit.He will wear down Cotto so a late rnd tko is on the cards. Two different ways of winning in this particular fight. From what I see, Hatton has a very good chance of beating Cotto. If Hatton doesn't get reckless ofcourse he can bully Cotto on the inside and stop him.Cotto chin and stamina is sussss.
Hatton currently doesn't make 160 so it doesn't matter whether Cotto makes the weight now or not. Cotto at 140 was an absolute monster with his power. He was durable and as a boxer, he has always been classes above Ricky Hatton. It's a no contest, just like Manny vs Hatton was. If Cotto landed flush on Hatton (not a hard thing to do for an accurate puncher like Cotto), it would have been game over. Fight going to a decision? Cotto wins, being the much better boxer. Hatton's chances of KO? Sure, a puncher like Hatton will always have at least a puncher's chance, but honestly, Cotto went 1 (or how many, 11?) rounds with a guy hitting him with bricks, afterwards he went twelve rounds with a dominating Pacman. The Cotto at 140 had a polished armor really, it took many wars for Cotto to show vulnerability. I'd go as far as taking away Hatton's punchers chance. Like Bigragu said on youtube, Hatton is a good boxer, but he's not a very good or great boxer. Cotto's at the very least a very good boxer.
:rofl:rofl He has better success staying in the pocket and working the body than lunging in and out with his head up in the breeze LOL.
In terms of skill and acomplishments, Cotto is a level higher than Hatton, but styles make fights. Cott's weakness has always been that he can't handle it when his opponents dictate the pace - Joel Judah said it best when he said to Zab "you gotta hit this ****er" - Hatton only fights at 1 pace, and that's flat out. With that in mind, I have Cotto boxing smart early on, racking up a points advantage, but he would get discouraged by Hatton's intensity and get on his bike, much like he did against Mosely, only earlier, and therefore, i'd lean towards Hatton on points.
It's difficult to say. Because 140 is the comfort zone for Hatton, whereas Cotto became a walking skeleton at that weight. Out of the two, without doubt Cotto is superior in almost every department (power, skill, defence, intelligence), and this may have enabled him to overcome the handicap of being weight drained. This would have been an amazing fight. But at 147, Cotto would eat him alive. Due to the slow pace Cotto often likes to fight out, I can see him dish out a prolonged 10-12 round beating. I'd honestly hate to imagine what Ricky's face would be like that by the end of the night. It's an interesting matchup, and one I think could still take place if Ricky's prepared to fight at 147 again. Both guys have declined in the aftermatch of bad losses (Cotto's most certainly worse), and I'm pretty sure it can and will still be a hell of a fight. Cotto by stoppage!
Nevermind him. He likely knows nothing about Hatton, like most of the people who like to chime in, and has probably never seen more than a few of his fights here at the end of his career.
This would be a great slugfest, and it would come down to chins. Cotto's at 140 was rock solid and we know that Hatton can be rocked, and bad. 10th or 11th round KO win for Cotto. Funny with the Pavlik is king stuff, reminds me how Macklin's boss (you know, Hatton) called out Pavlik to give Macklin a shot. Win or lose after Martinez, Pavlik would serve fight fans well to fight Macklin at in New York or Boston to give fight fans that Irish banger fight they thought would happen until Duddy made a fool of himself with Smichet. Macklin's a better fighter than Duddy and would make give Pavlik a chance to have a fight of the year candidate on his hands like he had at his peak against Taylor and Miranda. I say win or lose because Pavlik/Martinez is every bit a pick 'em fight as Williams/Martinez was, and we saw how that went. The Hatton angle might even get those drunken Brits over here singing about "walkin' in Macklin wonderland..."
Hatton in his prime had a solid chin and walked through some of Tszyu's best shots so I don't see how someone like Cotto who has never been a big puncher would knock him out. Hatto would just keep going at him and get the nod on points.
