Hatton was still a beast at 140 despite his technical deficiencies. He had alot of energy and very good power especially in his left hook. I wouldn't be surprised if he might of been able to floor Cotto, but I think Cotto keeps him at a distance with his jab and times him, which Cotto was great at, coming in and wears down Hatton.

I think Cotto wins in a split decision in a fun fight, but if they went toe to toe, their would be knockdowns on both sides, but Cotto was the more accurate and didn't punch as wild or open as Hatton, so I think he would beat Hatton to the punch. I'd give Cotto the edge.

    Cotto Ko7 Hatton.

Cotto has better boxing skills and more cautious than Hatton. And I cant see Hatton bulldozing Miguel, unless Miguel's weight-drained at 140 (I think he'll be)

Hatton would break Cotto down, and stop him around rounds 8 or 9. Hatton always has and always will be underrated and very under appreciated. A lot of people that vote just remember 2 rounds. Rounds 10 and 2. So as Roger Mayweather says "Ya'll don't know **** 'bout Boxin'!"

I think they both trouble the other actually, and to be honest i actually think if Hatton fights like he CAN fight, like he used to fight in his prime, i would say he has the style advantage.

BUT at 140 Cotto was a true pit bull.... and his punches against 140lbers truly re-arranged them, and assuming we are talking the strong cotto from the pinto and bailey fights, and not the one dying to make the weight as in the torres and malignaggi fights, i think while Hattons style is right, he doesnt have the size, power or his face durable enough to make it work for him against Cotto, which is what would make this fight so exciting, so interesting, and so close. However I think Cotto would be too strong, too skilled, and would carve Hatton up as i think Cotto would beat Hatton to the punch throughout the fight as well with his compact and crisp combinations.

I actually think Hatton would win the first portion of the fight with an effective aggression that sees Cotto start to retreat, but Cotto is the one commanding the exchanges, backing up, unloading, backing up, unloading....
around the 4th round the damage starts showing up on Ricky, and with Ricky not having a size advantage, or doing anything exceptional enough to tilt the fight in his favor, his in your face, wear you down fighting would see him get dissected and beat down against Cotto IMO. I think Hattons toughness, strength and tenacity see him win the last round with cotto backpedling knowing he has the fight in the bag, making it 7-5 for Cotto. Hatton wins 1,2,3, Cotto 4,5,6,7,8,9, Hatton 10, Cotto 11th, and Hatton 12th.

Cotto comes IMO with the strength advantage, speed advantage, skill advantage, and Cotto to me is the type of fighter you have to have 'something' to beat him with, be it much superior size, much superior speed, ect.... i just dont see Hatton having what it takes or having that 'something'. I take nothing away from Hatton, hes a good fighter, but Cotto is 'just' above him IMO, and with Hatton having no glaring advantage, i just dont see him winning. Cotto stock has dropped a lot, if Cotto had never fought Mosley everyone would pick Mosley to win by KO. Its natural as Cotto has had two devistating losses.... but so has Ricky.

Cotto has faced all sorts of different types of fighters, but his nemises are big strong very durable fighters that will keep on him all night, and supreme speed. While Hatton is not slow, and will take the fight to him big time, he still doesnt fit the bill IMO, while Cotto has the tools to break Hatton down and win the rounds he needs to win.

Cotto at his best and in his prime would simply be too much for Hatton, and whos quick, short crisp combos in his day would have won him the fight.

Anyways, Cotto UD with Hattons face a mess at the end of the fight.

Cotto is a class above Hatton for pure boxing ability and hit monstrously at 140, but I think Hatton has a chance to bully him there.

The outcome could hinge on how the fight was officiated.

Exactly. Over the last few years Boxing has gained a **** load of fans. You have people that haven't followed the sport 4 or 5 years and have just seen 2 rounds of Hatton's career. And then you have the other type that have been "fans" that jumped on Hatton's bandwagon when he was on fire, and now have jumped off because it's "uncool" to be a Hatton fan.

This would have been a brilliant fight if both were in their prime - an all out war. I'd back Hatton to win by close decision though. I think he'd be backing Cotto up for a large portion of the fight. It would be close though.

I think some people forget just how much of a beast Hatton used to be at 140lbs.

yes he was (torres) and he badly rocked a few times as well.

and you can say pbf and pac are 2 classes above hatton if you like, but to say cotto was, at 140 is a joke.

hatton is a ****ing 1 dimensional slugger with his face using as his ultimate defense. i see Cotto punishing hatton with his jab early then KTFO hatton in the later rounds.

Cotto would be a ****in zombie if he was to get down to 140 so Hatton would kill him.

    147 + and it's Cotto.
