Have we all been a bit harsh on old Ricky Hatton? I mean, the guy's lost two fights against legit ATG's and he's become a ****ing joke around these parts. Floyd Mayweather has been one of the best in the sport for over a decade and Manny's amazing demolition of Cotto is putting things in better perspective. De La Hoya, Marquez, Cotto, Hatton, Barrera and Morales are all living proof that losing to Pacman doesn't automatically make you a piece of ****, and history proves that you can overturn 2 losses to ATG's if you want it enough. Tommy Hearns was KO'ed late by SRL and blasted out in 3 by Hagler. Duran was destroyed by Hearns and quit against SRL. So Hatton vs Cotto... At their respective career stages it would draw and inspired performance from both of them making for a ****ing good fight. An honorable loss might even boost their credibility as they're both great fighters... What do you all think...? :think
Yes. Those jabs Cotto were landing on Pacquiao would have Hatton holding on, it didn't take much from Pacquiao to knock him down (the 2nd KD hit him on the glove) and Hatton's never been a force at 147. I still think Cotto's got some left, he was doing alright against Pac before the punches started to take their toll. Hatton would have to go to war against Cotto, and there's only one winner.
The fight would either be at a catchweight, or at 147. Can't see Cotto going back down to 140, would take a miracle. Hatton's never been comfortable at 147. I can only see one winner. pacman made both of them look very bad, but Cotto is still the superior and more complete fighter. Cotto wins comfortably and stops him, around the middle point.
Style would see the fight last longer I think... Cotto has the advantage in size and has shown himself more versatile, but he's always been the type to build a knockout over a few rounds rather than try to make one appear as soon as possible. I see the early rounds being fought at Hatton's pace, and Hatton holding on = Hatton holding and hitting to a knife's edge of a point deduction. I can see Cotto winning by stoppage, but it would be closer than a lot of people might think...
I've always thought prime Hatton that of around 2005 could possibly beat Cotto @ 140 at the time. Would have been some fight Obviously not @ 147
it wouldnt be the blow out many people predict,at 147 cotto would be favourite but if it was a 144/145 catchweight it could go either way.
im gonna base my judgement on how they both done against mallinaggi. cotto made a meal out of him when paulie was green and not as experienced. hatton fought him when he was a much more complete fighter and smashed him all round the ring. hmmmm. spose it depends on the weight issue.
