An excellent match up.............A real old school scrap with the potentail fanbase to create one of the best & most exciting atmosphere at a fight for years. As for those idiots who think it would be a onesided beating for Cotto..........dont be so ****ing naive ....!!!!!!!!
they have a point, hatton looks too small for a 147, cotto is a huge 147lber, hatton's style is to wrestle and maul, strength comes into play alot, but what happens when he has to fight a bigger and stronger guy than himself?
how is he too small for 147? as much as he blows up between fights thats just bull****. at 147 he's fighting people his size.
Thats not true. Guys at 147 are naturally bigger than him. He will not be his best at 147. Its kinda like Gatti and I mean it like Gatti is too big(weight) for 140 but too weak at 147.I think its kinda the same for Hatton.
i agree that cotto at 147 is too strong.cotto actually looks a bit of a monster at welter.hatton's strongarm tactics wouldn't be as effective against a guy who is probably stronger, lets face it ricky kept a huge light welter in urango at arms length for the first half of their fight.i think hatton would try to stay on the outside in this one and use his underrated boxing skils but there would be enough exchanges for cotto to get to him probably late on.he's just too big for ricky.
If they had fought at 140 i think hatton would have wrecked him, now he is a t147 he looks a much better fighter and i think he could beat hatton.
It would be a great fight and much depends on Hattons showing aganst Mayweather. If Hatton puts up a good showing in the PBF fight then I would pick him over Cotto but if he performs against Mayweather like he did against Collazo then he will be embarressed and the possibility of a future fight with Cotto becomes nil and a formality for Cotto. We all rate Cotto but Hatton needs to show us something good to gain some serious recognition world wide.
Hope This Fight Happens Better For For Hatton At 140 But I Think Hatton Fights Golden Boy First So If It Happens We Could Be In For A Long Wait
I dont think Cotto's strength advantage is a massive as some people are suggesting. Hatton's very stocky, has very strong legs and a low centre of gravity which gives him a lot in a pushing and shoving match. His style is basically based on bullying people and shoving them back on the backfoot. He was throwing Tszsyu and Castillo, neither of which were small light-welterweights, around like ragdolls. Remember how he tore through Ray Oliveira, who was a big welterweight, back when he was a kid? I think Cotto is bigger and stronger, but not by a massive margin. I also think Hatton is just as good a boxer, and I think that they're quite evenly matched. Hatton has better footwork and handspeed, Cotto is a slightly bigger puncher and is naturally bigger. Other than that, there's not a lot between them. 50/50 fight, gonna give it to Hatton based on superior workrate and determination. Could be a classic should it ever happen.
This fight won't work! Because after Dec.8 they're won't be a Ricky Hatton in boxing. But if it does happen Cotto will hurt him as well probably even worse!!!
