Ricky Hatton has announced in an interview on the Chris Moyles show on Radio one that a British Superfight with Amir Khan has been agreed. The fight would take place in Las Vegas. He said "When I first got back to the gym the spark wasn't there. But in the past few weeks I can feel the old fire...I didn't want to get back in the ring with anyone, especially not someone I would have whipped a few years ago. This is a British superfight and is something the fans want to see". Ricky announced that it would be in September but didn't elaborate on the exact date. He said he has been training 3 or 4 times a week but his diet could have been better and wants to get into shape properly. No announcement has yet been made by Team Khan.
This would be a bit of a surprise because Hatton has said that he really just doesn't want to train anymore. I would hope that Hatton can turn back the clock and beat the **** out of Khan and it would be great to prove the haters wrong once again.
i dont want see hatton back in the ring, all this time as a fat man will have done him no good. he wouldn't stand a chance against a younger, fitter and faster khan. he should stay out of the ring and with only 2 losses on his resume against the 2 best fighters around not a third pointless loss against khan....
i would prefer to see hatton in a comebnack fight first to prove he has enough left in the tank to make this competitive, the way he blocked all of pacmans shots with his face makes me think this will be over soon
I think the person who reported this on another thread was taking the ****, making up **** that Hatton never said. Ramadan doesn't finish until 10th September so Khan won't be fighting until at least 8 weeks after
I don't really want to see this fight, I can see Hatton getting quite easily outboxed on the outside. I'd like to see Hatton fight Marquez in a war and then retire.
I think that quote by Hatton has been fiddled by someone. This was reported on the scene of boxing, and on there he didn't mention anything about a British Superfight, or about feeling the old fire
