i predict a unanimous decision in favour of hatton due to him over working paulie although paulies andspeed could cause the hitman problems
both have their weaknesses Paulie's hands plus he holds his left too low IMO Ricky's stamina, and his tendenecy to slug rather than box is not a good sign against paulie who has pretty decent footwork
I say this fight would be 50/50.. Both didn't look all that impressive Saturday night.. Hatton's punches seems to be diminishing in my view and he's getting a little aged.. Malignaggi was just terrible against N'Dou.. Malignaggi would be looking to box while Hatton would be looking to brawl and hug.. For right now, I'll say Hatton by a close decision, but this fight does need to happen.. Malignaggi vs Hatton for top spot in the Jr. WW division and then whoever can fight Bradley.. Forget Witter..
Hatton by decision or possible late round KO. Malignaggi has a decent chance but simply doesn't have the power to back Hatton off who will be all over Malignaggi from the start.
Could also depend on the judges. some favor agressors, some the counter punchers that land, and others on who throws more, and who lands more :hi:
Alot of factors: Location, Ref, judges ect... Right now it's a pick'em but before last night I'll admit I had Paulie by UD/SD. (Tho neither fighter looked very impressive last night IMO) But with Paulie's always brittle hands and an already made "Built in excuse" by Paulie heading into a showdown with Hatton. (Hand Probs) I'm gonna have to say Ricky will prob out punch/work Mallinaggi thru 12 and pull out a UD. But defo no stoppage here unless it's on cuts. (Either way)
I still say it an even fight right now. They both sucked last night but it was a bad night for both of them. I'll say it's a 50/50 fight but I'll pick Paulie UD 12.
The two fights Saturday that were supposed to lend some buildup to this matchup sure sucked in that category. Neither Malignaggi or Hatton exactly set the world on fire with those fights. I give Malignaggi more credit because at least his opponent was a live dog. Malignaggi and N'dou's first fight told us that. Lazcano was a carefully picked opponent. A former lightweight a little long in tooth who lost every big fight he's had. That said I think this is an interesting matchup with a classic come at you brawler versus the slick boxer. I see it as close. Very close fight. The crowd will help Hatton but it won't hurt Malignaggi. Say what you want about Malignaggi but nothing intimidates that kid. Malignaggi can beat Hatton but it can't be the Malignaggi I saw saturday. And he better have a new hairdo too.
Let's understand one thing. Paulie went 12 brutal rounds with the strongest man at 140 in Cotto. He took everything Cotto could hit him with. Hatton is no Cotto. If Cotto couldnt KO Paulie, then Hatton sure as hell isnt going to do it.
N'dou was a live dog? You mean the same N'duou that Paulie beat 12 rounds to 0 the previous year? Niether opponent was live and both were long in the tooth. Personally, I'm wondering more what happened to paulie then whats happened to ricky. He's look real bad in his last couple of fights. Compare that the the guy that looked spectacular against N'dou in there first fight and I'm left scratching my head:huh
