i agree. his jab is only a striaght punch not a tool or a way of getting inside. it's a punch that he ends every combination with....so you see on the compustats or somthign that he has thrown 30 jabs or such but they arnt educated and technical.

main thing is hatton has had tons of trouble against southpaws. almost every southpaw he has fought he looks like a mug. either it's magee or collazo he just seems to get his from the left hand.

ODLH was not shot. That is just an excuse to cover up the humiliation he got from Pacman period. People try to make Oscar out to be a great fighter which he has never been. Everytime he was put into a genuine 50/50 fight apart from those he lost his performance level declined. When he was in over matched contests against guys he was certain to beat he was a flat track bully.

One of the reasons I despise ODLH amongst other reasons was how he avoided WBC Champion Azumah Nelson and fought WBO champion Jimmy Bredahl. By way of comparison Jeff Fenech when he moved up in weight as an undefeated faced Nelson. He might not have won and was brutally knocked out in his hometown of Australia but he played no silly games like Oscar and fought the best. I would always respect Jeff Lacy for coming to the UK to take on Calzaghe. Fenech and Nelson are great fighters, ODLH is not for me he was a very good fighter but a fraud not a great fighter. Tough words and a harsh assessment but I feel very strongly about it.

Jeff as you know I have had to study Hatton assidously for many years now for obvious reasons. Pacman will stop Hatton especially the way Pacman fights now with lateral movement on his toes and improved boxing skills, ring generalship and better defence etc. I don't just base this on last Saturday's performance but also his defeat of Diaz.

The only way for Hatton to win is for Pacman to get into a dogfight with similar to Benn versus McClellan. I would still favor Pacman in such a tear up but I agree Hatton's chances would be increased.

The last thing Hatton needs is a fast accurate skilled southpaw who can punch with explosiveness. For me if the match is made Pacman will stop Hatton inside 8 rounds.

As soon as he turned pro Oscar always had that "thing" of winning titles at 5 weights. He took on Bredahl in his 10th/ 11th fight just get a title, any title, at 130 before he outgrew the weight. He was fighting for the Lightweight title within 6 months of the Bredahl fight, he was never a serious top 130 lber and was never going to fight a good, experienced champ like Nelson at that stage of his career with less than a dozen pro fights under his belt.

Then quite frankly he had no right to call himself a champion at 130 pounds. I mean pardon my french but **** sake Azumah Nelson fought Sanchez as a last minute substitute in his 13 fight I think and a couple of years late went to Puerto Rico to take the title of the great Gomez by stopping him.

PBF won the title at 130 pounds by taking care of Hernandez who finally took the WBC belt of the aging Nelson. PBF after defeating a host of others Manfredy the unbeaten and dangerous Corrales took the Lightweight title from the best at 135 pounds the peak Castillo. He was unable to fight Tyzu at 140 because Tyzu was injured and went up to 147 and 155 taking care of the linear champions Judah, Baldomir and De La Hoya and the destroyed the confident and unbeaten Hatton.

maybe becuase he didn't do anything for the whole fight, the fact is pac is a better boxer and a better fighter than him but if he had anything left he would have at least been swinging for the fences to try and catch pac when he was doing so badly but he just stood there and got punched.

I'm not justifying it Olu, just telling what happened and the reason behind it. If Oscar had of waited until he was ready for a "real" title shot then it would have been 18 months later at lightweight, not after 11 fights at 130 so a title fight with Nelson at that weight was never a realistic proposition. The Bredahl fight was just about getting a belt before he outgrew the division so he was on track for his "titles at 5 weights" thing.
