HBO not paying for a fight involving a GBP fighter......

One gets the sense this is part of the ongoing war between Bob Arum and Ross Greenburg.

Arum has said the fight will go to the highest bidder - and that legally he is able to negotiate.

It would probably be a mistake for HBO to pass on this one, but spending money stupidly on Dawson vs Tarver II may use up some of their budget.

Sure, it'll go to Showtime right after it ends up in Dubai....

Neither of these two are old and shot, so wouldn't surprise me if HBO passed.......

Whoever is running boxing at HBO, or buying the fights, needs to be ****ing fired.

There should be no more carte-blanche deals with Golden Boy (or anybody else for that matter) and need to recognise just a single world title - rather than having two welterweight title fights on the same night (wtf?) then having the winners square off later....

You didn't need Cotto and Margarito to bash up Gomez and Cintron to make the fight big.

Yeah, I've just read this on ESPN, fight may be on Showtime PPV. Arum said they're giving to the highest bidder.

Arum has alot of people in his organization. He's a selfish **** to be throwing his weight around and causing personal conflict. His staff at Top Rank and his fighters are the ones who will suffer when **** happens.

This may not be such a bad thing. Arum mentioned if Showtime picks the fight up, he'd like to do a series similar to 24/7 on CBS. Apparently the president of CBS is a big fight fan. Arum building bridges with Showtime/CBS, could be better for Boxing in the long run.

Only downside is no Larry Merchant, although Jim Gray and Al Bernstein almost makes up for it.
