Tough comebacking fight for Hatton, much respect to him:shock:

Big guy got a boxing lesson against a side-on Malignaggi, but hes going to get more opportunities to pump that jab into Rickys face if Hatton cant keep up a fast pace & swarm all over him round after round like he used to do so effectively in his heyday...

I could almost imagine Hatton licking his lips watching the big fella wincing at Paulies bodywork though...

    Vely intelesting!

I respect Hatton on this but why did he choose a more technical opponent?!!??

I think Kastidis would have been much better for a comeback fight.

What does beating Kats at 147 tell a fighter about his comeback plans?

Obviously this is the plan: Senchenko then malignaggi then one of the big guns (probably Bradley)

very much doubt that hatton would be interested in bradley. i would have thought that he intends to have 2 or 3 tune ups, then cash in against khan or brook.

Hatton by KO is the obvious result. But I think he'll struggle to get it and that his comeback will eventually end in disappointment.

That depends on what his comeback targets are. If they are realistic goals like beating a few guys and winning a belt, then he should be able to do that. If he's planning on coming back to avenge his losses and "win" the P4P title then he might have a problem.

history tells us he shouldn't win this fight.....also, look at him, his body looks old now, he was on bbc news this morning and his neck is old looking, funny as it sounds, he has an old mans turkey neck...he's aged.
there's been times over the last year before he lost all this weight where he looked and moved and had mannerisms of someone with arthritas.
34 is old for his weight....even if he was active all this time he'd have been done by now with the style he has...that aggressive come forward style burns out quick.
and this will be the biggest man he has ever fought.
this man was a respected belt holder before mallinaggi beat him last time out...and no way could hatton do what paulie did, different style, and styles make fights...hatton will be much easier for senchenko to find, he'll be in his face, not like paulie darting in and out.
even listening to hatton on bbc this morning, he doesnt seem that confident himself...saying things like "well, if i get beat and it doesnt work out then it'll shut the little man up on my shoulder thats been bugging me".....this is the same hatton who used to tell us to put the mortgage on him.
he's let his body go to mush for 3 years, at a time when he is old for a boxer of his weight....he has been totally inactive, not just in boxing, but in keeping himself in any way fit....he's had cocaine problems...he's drunk guinness like a fish....he's got family issues too.
i just can't go along with everyone on this...i think he will be a shadow of himself at best......senchenko to stop him.

"old man turkey neck" I lol'd

But seriously he's taken a lot of weight off fast, it's a good thing he has another two month for his body to adapt to the new weight

I originally voted for Senchenko by UD, but after taking a closer look his style matches up horribly with Hatton, he's not quick, and needs time and space to get his shots off, he's not going to get that with Ricky coming at him full steam ahead. plus there is a lot of rib for hatton to feast on inside

typical basic stand up european style with nothing special at all about him, Hatton should be able to handle him, although i dont think it will be as easy as it would have been a few years ago

Nowhere near as fast as he has done in training camps in the past.

No, but he'd also been fat for a lot longer. I seen him training today and he looks about the limit right now, he was looking soft a couple weeks ago, but the abs and definition are starting to reappear, 8 weeks of training in a world level training camp and he'll be fit as a fiddle come fight night.

    it'll be interesting for sure

    Should :good

But boxing history is littered with stories of talented guys who should have stayed retired. It's just so easy to think you still have it when in fact you haven't, and there's usually someone willing to throw some money at you making the mistake all the more enticing to make.

Yes, but at the end of the day Ricky is his own man.

he's 33, not 43 and the way people talk about him like he's complete trash, who can blame him for wanting to set the record straight

better to try than die wondering

he'll be 34 for this fight....after 3 years of eating pie and chips, snorting coke, drinking guiness and ballooning up to 15 stone....what am i missing here?....why do people think with such confidence he can beat senchenko.
