    The fight makes no sense!
It was 1 thing when Hatton was at the top of his division and Witter was calling him out. If this fight was made now it would look like a desperate attempt to make money for 2 shot fighters. Nothing more

I disagree. Would you pay 15 quid to watch it on a PPV? I certainly wouldnt. Dont get me wrong im a huge hatton fan, but i dont see any point in the fight. Personally i never classed witter in the same league as hatton back then.

For me hatton does 1 of 3 things.
    1) retire
    2) have a big money fight ie JMM then retire. A witter fight no longer gets him that money
or 3) have 1 warm up fight to get bck in the top 10 LWW list, then go for a championship and retire. But a witter fight doesnt put him in the mix to challange for a title

I wouldnt ind seeing this. I think its a good fight for him to make a comeback and then fight JMM or Juan Diaz and if hebeats either of them have a huge fight at Wembley with Khan and retire.

Hatton is done...no way his body can take it anymore...he probably weighs about 180 lbs. right now...he was spent when he fought Manny he looked like a skeleton...you cant balloon up in weight like that...Hatton should call it a career

I believe Witter would have wooped Hatton back then regardless, Hatton always ducked him. And no I wouldn't pay to watch this fight, I would see it on Youtube the next day.

You have got to be kidding, two great British fighters, both well past there best, trying to settle a score which was made irelevant when Mayweather and Bradley both beat them

It it were to happen, it should have ben years ago. Now they both face possible long term injury hitting lumps out of each other

    Its over

Witter is finished, so is Hatton, and they'd both be coming off of long layoff and would need to fight at 147. I wouldn't have any real interest in it, unless the winner got a title fight and the loser had to retire.

When it made the most sense is when Hatton was British champ and Witter called him out in the first place. Really it sold itself, all the crap that's come from both guys over the years condensed into a few months...well it sells itself.

That's no excuse for a fight not happening. PPV is entirely a symptom of greedybastarditis. Nobody pays to watch the world cup final do they? You may very well be paying a subscription for satellite or cable to begin with and extra to watch the sports channels. It's a complete **** take and the buck stops with the fighters.
You are right that it's pretty pointless now though, they're both past it and I doubt either of them need money-Hatton at least certainly doesn't. I don't know what Witter was earning but he's had some quite big fights and I can see him working behind the pads/bags when he does decide to pack it in.
I don't know if he was in a different league though, I'd say he was a more consistant performer and he was moved along in a more logical way whereas Witter made quite a jump after he got fed up being sidelined by Warren. I think if the fight happened when it should have, a few fights before Hatton fought Tszyu at the latest, it would have been a decent dust up. It's a shame it didn't happen. Sod's law.

Well im in the boat as to say why shouldnt it happen. If Hattons decides to comeback why not fight Witter as a tune up. Throw it on in the M.E.N Arena with a bumper card and throw it Sky Sports 1 or one of the terrestrial channels and I think we got a good nights boxing. If Hatton wins he can go fight Marquez or somebody and call out Khan for a huge final payday ay Wembley. If it makes money it makes sense.

Witter is even more done than Hatton, he quit against Alexander when he wasn't even getting beaten up.

What's the point of fighting Marquez though...money? He doesn't need it. Hatton's fought too many (more than 0) guys from the lower divisions already. I mean seriously, there's nothing for him to fight for, we all know he's slipped quite a bit, he doesn't need cash for the rest of his life and he can look anybody in the eye and call himself a good-and more importantly a lineal-champion.
He may very well read the messageboards all the time and I really don't think anybody should be encouraging him-or any other fighter for that matter-to carry on taking punches longer than he needs to.
