Hatton by decision. Hatton only lost to the best while curry lost to billy costello who went on to lose to lonnie smith in his first defense of the title.curry has to be given credit for his two competetive losses to benitez though, but he also has losses to far lesser fighters.Hatton has the big win over tszyu so think he could get by curry in a tough dangerous fight.
i agree some what. You cant get much more over hyped than have thousands of silly fans singing theres only one.that got tiresome and very hard for him to live up to.i would rather they didnt sing myself.that being said,i think he was a excellently flawed fighter, his offense and pace was very hard to deal with, and only the best were able to take advantage of his glaring defensive flaws.when hatton fought, his apponent always knew what was coming and if they couldnt figure out how to beat him they got run over. How many of the past champs would have figured that out? that what these little discussions are about.
As an exremely aggressive fighter it is sometimes overlooked that Ricky did have some skills at his disposal, as the Ben Tackie fight hinted at, However fighting a lot of lower class stepping stones or tired veterans, the aggression and bodyshots were usually enough, not being a great single shot hitter, Ricky usually had to break their spirit and will first, as such, Ricky, whilst a strong favourite, may even of had his hands full in the early going, with fighters, in their prime, like Jake "the Snake" Rodriguez or Gene "Mad Dog" Hatcher. before tha extra class tells, but when it comes to the elite, the elite in their primes, Ricky may be relegated to exciting honest trier. - its no bad thing being a fan favouite.
