Floyd IMO uses his natrual gifts, like speed, reflexes and athletic ability to win his fights. Sure he was bigger than JMM and that helped. But not as much as his other attributes/advantages he had going in there with JMM. JMM can beat bigger men...BUT, not when he's fighting at a weight he has no business fighting at.

I'm sure at 140 vs Rick JMM will do better than he did against Floyd but that is a given! JMM can't do any worse. lol, ya know. BUt JMM will still have the same issues he did when he faced Floyd within himself. He'll still be slow, he'll still loose his power and he'll still loose his fluidity w/movment. Plus Rick will be all over him. If Rick isnt worried about getting hurt, like he wasn't with Paulie then he'll be all over the smaller man in JMM and end up beating the smaller man.

I agree with styles do make fights.....I think the biggest broplem Floyd had with Zab early on was the speed of Zab who is a bit faster than Floyd. It took floyd time to get acclimated to the speed of Zab and get his timing and rythm down. Floyd is bigger than Zab....not frame wize but in terms of height and length. That worked to his advantge b/c they both used the Jab but Floyd was able to keep Zab at "his" distance the mid rounds that helped him begin to pick Judah apart.

Marquez is just to good for Hatton even at 140. JMM would counter Hitman till he gets waived away

Marquez can beat naturally bigger men period, even if fighting out of his weight class at 140 lbs......just not fighters like Mayweather Jr. who are fighting in there most comfortable weight and are both physically and skillwise at the very elite of the sport.
I believe we're in agreeance on this.

Again, thats your opinion. I happen to think that Marquez did'nt lose the speed or the power you talk about, at least not in significant terms.....but it just must have looked that way to you because Mayweather who is so much quicker and faster, made it seem like Marquez was slow, but in reality there was'nt much difference between the speed and power of the JMM that knocked out both Casa and Diaz at lightweight and the JMM that fought Mayweather.
.....and who's to say Hatton is not going to feel and be worried about JMM's speed in combination and his power?
Remember, Marquez brutally knocked out Juan Diaz, where Malignaggi never even made Diaz stumble.
.....so there is large disparity in power between Malignaggi and Marquez to be sure.

:happy you hit it right on the button pal.

I don't believe the weight gain affected Marquez at all. Him losing had more to do with Mayweathers speed, skills, height, and of course the huge weight advantage.

If Juan Diaz gave JMM hell, imagine what Hatton could do?

JMM went 24 rounds with Pacman.

He would outbox Hatton without much trouble.

    Wow.

Can't believe over 1 in 5 people think Hatton will win by KO. Marquez is a winner and has never been stopped. I think it will be a close fight but there is no way Hatton wins by KO, maybe points but not KO. I voted Marquez by KO though as I think he will be too slick for Hatton and we all know how that ends - devastating KO

That was never a question.....Paulie doesn't have power. JMM has power at 135 but that didn't seem to translate up at 144 or 142 or 140. I just don't see JMM beating Ricky who will hold the size and power advantage over JMM.

You said previously that if Ricky is'nt worried about being hurt, then he'll be all over him....referring that Hatton would do to Marquez what he did to Malignaggi.

.....I then proved to you that Malignaggi at his comfortable 140 lbs weight class could'nt hurt Juan Diaz who was moving up a weight class.....

....Marquez brutally knocked out Diaz in Diaz' comfort weight......so it goes to show that there is more to fear in terms of power for Hatton against Marquez and that he should'nt look to treat him like he did Malignaggi.

Marquez has more power than Malignaggi has which is the point.

.....and again, we're going around in circles here......you keep bringing up your assumption that its proven that Marquez does'nt have power at 140 lbs.......yet neither of us has seen him fight at that weight.......we've only seen him against a full fledged elite, defensive minded welterweight.....

......now if we see Marquez landing clean shots at a 140 pounder and he's just not moving him.....then you can say his power has'nt carried up.......but you cant say that based on watching him against a fighter the attributes of Mayweather Jr.

....for example, DLH was never able to land clean enough to rock Mayweather......are you going to say DLH does'nt carry power at 154 lbs????:lol::lol:
.....against a more stationary target like Mayorga, DLH KHTFO in brutal fashion.....
....big difference between trying to cleanly hit Mayweather Jr. and trying to hit Ricardo Mayorga....

....the same would go to Marquez trying to plant hurtful shots at Hatton, compared to Mayweather.

Mayweather is elite and he's still prime......its going to take at least a fighter his size and likely bigger to beat him at this point in Mayweather's career........
......that is'nt the case with Hatton, who although naturally bigger, a fighter the skills of Marquez would have a good size window to work his skills and advantages to which to attain victory.

Hatton is rich and should not fight anymore. Marquez will beat him.

JMM did land on Floyd and it did nothing at all to floyd, which is why I don't think his power was carried up. DLH only landed the jab which was flush and pushed Floyd back but was unable to land anything else that would hurt Floyd in their fight. I just don't see JMM that I am use to seeing at 130 or 135 where he's a threat. I see Hatton bullying JMM and using his strenght and power to overwhelm the Mexican fighter. I think he'll do well early but gets walked down by Ricky who will ultimately get the KO or stoppage. But I give JMM a chance....I did with Floyd as well. But like the floyd fight I give him very little chance at winning against top fighters above 140. He's just not the same fighter.

I feel that I've made my point and you're just dead to rights on the matter.....

Now, you're telling us that Marquez tested Mayweather's chin enough to say that Marquez cant put a dent on a 140 pounder when he was actually punching at a full fledged Welter?

Do you know anything about boxing Charlie?:nut

You do know that Marquez is not a concussive type puncher at any weight......he's a cumulative puncher.
He wears an opponent down and then knocks them out.

Yes, Marquez landed a few nice lead straight rights on Mayweather.....but we all know that Mayweather is a defensive specialist and through legit and non-legit means makes certain followup shots are not landed on him.

Marquez did'nt land consistently on Mayweather nor had the strenghth to break through that tough defensive shell, to come close to wearing on Mayweather......

.....its much easier landing shots on Hatton because his defense is porous at best.......and guess what????as a welter, Mayweather proved to be stronger than Hatton when it came to pushing and shoving on the inside.

Mayweather is much stronger physically as a welter than people give him credit for.......he certainly proved to be stronger than Hatton, as it was Mayweather who was tossing Hatton around when they were wrestling at close quarters.....

Again, you're oblivious of the fact that it was Mayweather who Marquez could'nt crack, and taking it to mean that if he could'nt crack Mayweather, then he's not going to crack any 140 pound fighter out there, no matter how bad defensively they might be.

You can respond if you wish Charlie, but I'm through with a poster like yourself who wont take into account the quality in Mayweather's defense, to then equate to it that a fighter of Marquez skills based on his fight with Mayweather, is'nt going to crack Hatton.

Btw, Marquez has never been an overpowering fighter at any weight......at lightweight, he wore down, and through accumulation, beatdown on both Casa and Diaz.
......thats mostly how its been with Marquez even in his days as a featherweight.

Skill, will, and toughness......I have no doubt the JMM is eons above Ricky Hatton in everyone of those categories!

My case has been made Charlie!
    ......nice sparring with you!;)
