"If I can beat Manny, which I think I will, Juan Manuel Marquez wants to move up," Hatton told setanta.com. He's the number two fighter in the world, so that's not a bad follow-up fight.
"I'd be a liar if I said I don;t fancy another fight with Floyd Jr. I don't want to be an old man in my armchair blaming it on certain people. I'd trather fight again because I need to know.
"He gave me a shot at the pound-for-pound title, so if I get past Pacquiao I'd like to return the favour."

    isnt it obvious?

For a start beating pac doesnt make hatton p4p number 1 lol. and it wouldnt then mean that he would be the attraction for mayweather. if mayweather came back to fight him he would still be massive favourite. hatton wont ever be p4p number 1

I like the way Hatton is moving the goalposts on the P4P rankings.

It makes me laugh, particularly when all you precious 20 year olds get your panties in a bunch over it.

Not so long ago p4p wasn't even an issue, it meant nothing, people took it for what it was - a basis for debate. Not actually a real title.

I guess I've just given up reading too much into this I have better things to occupy myself with to be honest.

I'll just take it that he wants Marquez if he beats Pacquiao which is fine in my book.

P4P means the best fighter in the world should the size barriers somehow be mythically dropped. I think when it comes to debate amongst fans, it is probably the most serious and worthy argument.

  9. I think the fact that he wants to fight Marquez and Mayweather should tell you enough about the man.

Whether he believes or not that he will P4P no.1 if he beats Pacquiao is kind of irrelevant.

That's because it isn't a title. It's Hatton that thinks it is.

    For Toffeejack...

"I'll give Mayweather a shot". I can imagine Mayweather..."Thanks Rick, I'm ever so grateful for this wonderful opportunity you have granted me...after I knocked you out" :-(

What's the "I don't want to be blaming other people" bit all about? Blaming who? Mayweather's glove knocked you into the ring post, Ricky. Blame yourself.

Having just read Hatton's book (written before the Mayweather fight) he was quite adamant that he has no respect for those who come up with excuses - Trainer, ref, illness etc.

Hatton the Linear light welterweight champion, against Pacman an ATG or against Marquez an ATG are great fights.... who cares how Hatton promotes it... its hardly a big deal is it? A great fight is a great fight. Least he makes the effort to fight the best opposition available.... If we parralel Calzaghe then Hatton would be chasing Joel Casamayor instead.
