Im glad Hatton battered malignaggi last night like i knew he would. He was starting to get very underrated on these forums. People were saying this was a 50-50 fight, a few were saying that malignaggi would outbox him and win a decision and loads more crap even though the last boxer paulie faced with a similiar style to hatton was Cotto, and everyone knows what happened there. I think ricky doesnt get enough credit these days, i mean, he beat tsyzu, maussa, collazo, urango, in consecutive title fights after wining his first title, no easy mandatories, one even at an above weight! then fought castillo, and moved up again for p4p champ mayweather. Still people were saying he was going to get beat by a guy with no power at all, who best wins were against ednar cherry and lovemore ndu, and who was only a world champ cause he won a vacated belt(hattons ironically) I can see why people may have thought he was possibly on the wane due to the lazcano fight but that was certainly no easy comeback fight and he did very well considering he'd had a bad chest infection leading up to fight week. Hatton needs more respect on here hopefully he might get some if he beats pacman(thats if he gets past odlh) Yes hes not the most skilled boxer in the world but i rekon his aggression, stamina, fearlessness, & inside fighting still make him one of the best in the business and untouchable i feel at 140lb. who agrees....
He definitely stepped it up last night and it was good for him to beat a name. Great match-making by fighting the powerless, one-handed Paulie. Most people were speculating the end of Ricky, myself included I admit, because they watched his last fights from Floyd Mayweather until now and he looked like **** in ALL of them. All in all this was a big win for his future and should ensure future big fights for him.
