"If his last fight had been in my back garden, I would have drawn the curtains."

A valid reason if ever I saw one.

"Ricky feels Junior has been trying to piggy-back on his success and that he's never given him the respect he deserves. Ricky resents the thought of giving Witter his biggest pay-day" - Hatton's lawyer

Two men who disrespect each other getting in the ring? Hell no, the new school method is to simply duck them.

“Ricky will never fight Junior Witter, as long as he keeps attacking him in public." - Hatton's lawyer

Gareth Williams has a lot to say...attacking him in PUBLIC. Oh dear.

"I'm not in the business of giving a big cheque and profile to someone who's been slagging me off for years."

Seems Gareth and Ricky are on the same wavelength.

Ricky Hatton's lawyer has hit back at Junior Witter's latest attempts to secure a domestic light-welterweight super-fight by dismissing the potential showdown as "a waste of time''.

You guessed it...thats Gareth Williams again. Is it him or Ricky that is the boxer?

"He is like a boil on my ass, so I would like to lace them up and get rid of him. Maybe we can get this fight out of the way in the summer and get on with my business"

Oh okay, so why don't you?

"I was half contemplating fighting him but it all changed at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards in Birmingham. Witter leaned over to me and whispered ‘One day'"

What a great big bully that Junior Witter is. Heaven forbid you get in the ring with him to resolve your issues.

"Win a proper world title and I will fight you."

Fair enough...you know Witter is a good fighter and that could came back haunt you...

"My next two fights are virtually done deals, but I could meet Junior down the line if he makes a couple of defences."

    Oops, goal posts moved.

"It's a fight I'd like to happen, but it can't happen immediately. Junior has paid his dues and finally won a world title, and now he can focus on defending his belt and put a bit of money in the bank."

Aww, bless you Ricky. You are only thinking of Junior! What was it you said about him winning a world title?

Feel free to add to this list. By no means is it exhaustive.

Only Hatton's most deluded fans can ever deny that he ducked Witter.

I do like Hatton despite his annoyances and hypocrisies but he ducked Wittter without a doubt. I'm not sure who would come out on top prime for prime but Witter was always a stylistic nightmare for Hatton.

    TFFP at his innovative best

There's a stack of evidence that Hatton was the better fighter by a street

They are called 'belts' and 'rankings'

Sadly even a British forum is now infested with American hyperbole like 'ducking' and all the inferences that word makes, when the reality is that Hatton didn't want to give him the payday

Witter was a risky fight considering Hatton would get no extra cash and no kudos on the international scene (where he operates)

I don't see anyone (Hatton included) suggesting this wasn't, like all fights, a simple risk/reward equation

Just to add Junior Witter is a non-entity outside of British boxing forums. Biggest fight in British History (Junior's words)? **** me I've heard it all now. Anyone who seriously, using the facts available, says they think Witter was the better fighter is - to be blunt - stupid.

In short, this **** is tired, dog tired

'Deluded' Hatton fans aren't half a deluded as Witter loving conspiracy theorists.

"Ducking" and avoiding are terms used to describe fighters who are too wise to get in the ring with a dangerous opponent, but won't admit they fear their opponent. I'm sorry, but Hatton has fought Kostya Tszyu, Manny Pacquiao, Juan Castillo - much more dangerous *******s than Witter. In terms of boxing ability, he took on Mayweather and Malignaggi - two far superior boxers than Junior Witter. So remind me, what the f*ck was he ducking/avoiding in Junior Witter??

Hatton doesn't fear Witter, just doesn't like him. Even at this stage of his career on the end of an embarassing ass whupping, Hatton is more likely to fight the unknown yank who embarrassed Witter in his own backyard, the one that has the belts, than scrape the barrel and take on Witter. For this fight to happen, Witter needed to establish himself just a little bit - he never did. He won a belt and lost it to the first kid that came along. What on earth does Hatton need to prove here??

How people can think Hatton would duck a 1 demensional fighter like witter, yet fight the P4P best twice is beyond me.

You literally said his quote...if you bothered read the original post. ;)

I don't need inspiration today of all days,Trottsky. The facts I've copy and pasted from Google speak for themselves.

    Hatton did duck Witter.

But that doesn't change my opinion that he did it purely for personal reasons, and that he would win a fight between the two.

Let me guess...the personal reasons. "I didn't wanna give him a payday cos he was like..*sob sob* weally mean to me" :|:|

Let's talk some truth here. He didn't want to RISK his applecart being bundled over, top and bottom of it. Whether he would have won or not (and clearly he wasn't that confident otherwise he'd shut up the big bad Witter up) is besides the point.
