You know what, I've got an idea, now this may seem crazy but, if you don't like Hatton's style..... DON'T WATCH. Thats right, no-ones holding a gun to your head. If you don't like the guys style, and it bugs you soooo much, don't watch. You have limited knowledge of boxing if you think holding is limited to Hatton and Ruiz or even the 2000's. How old are you? How many fights have you watched in the history of boxing? Bottom line it's a part of the sport and btw that's why the referee's there. He's the judge of whats excessive, not you.:deal
Exactly the Hatton fans think Floyd was initiating the holding when it was clearly Hatton. Even when Hatton should of realized the referee was not going to allow him to hold and hit inside he should of changed his game plan, but he could'nt, because Hatton cannot hang with elite fighters without holding. They took away Hatton's hug they destroyed his game plan.
Actually you should switch to a different sport, because you clearly haven't watched much boxing from the past. Watch Ali-Frazier and see how much Ali ties him up inside, watch pretty much any Marciano fight and look how much he ties people up to unload shots on the ropes.... Hatton hits when he is inside, watch Castillo, Hatton throws more punches than Castillo, he boxed against Tackie and Urango (until he tired), he threw a huge amount of shots against pretty much every opponent bar Collazo. Name the 5 fights where you think he did a Ruiz.
Well then clearly Cortez did an awsome job in the mayweather fight. Every Hatton fans opionion doesn't matter. It's the referee's job to decide if Hatton is hugging too much or if FLoyd is using the elbow improperly, not yours.
Does Muhammad Ali consistently hold as much as Hatton? noatsch Tszyu Castillo Urango Lazcano Mayweather
Agreed. He's a notch below Ruiz since he does have a little skill, and its not quite as excessive. However, I still call him Ruiz's little son. All that hitting and holding is displeasing on the eye, and ragged. I don't know how he compares his style to Mexican legends for excitement, he's far from it. Many of them could stand in the pocket without even holding.
The interesting thing about it is he only started this when he stepped up his competition. He knows he is not good at getting into range since he has no head movement, so he grapples hold as long as possible before having to reset. It's a defensive measure. Sadly the refs in England stand for too much of this bull**** beyond a reasonable point. I don't mind seeing a bit of holding, but not holding and hitting, and the frequency is important. Second half of Urango-Hatton was not boxing.
No way. I'm not a Hatton fan neither but Cortez spoilt what could have been a good tear up. He was splitting them up when both guys were still throwing punches it was a shambles
