Hatton will win within 5 rounds....

Fight is simple. Who ever can impose the style on the other fighter more will win.

 

what you dont realize is that pac will throw fast combinations and turn ricky. pac will use speed and throw punches in bunches. hatton has never faced a fighter with pacs type of offence.

 

Pac hasn't faced a 140lb bull though has he!

I think the physical strength could prove decisive.

There are so many things in this fight that favour either fighter..... but don't expect this to be over quick.

Hatton isn't particularly heavy handed and hasn't ever KO'd a good southpaw..... whilst Pac took 9 to get rid of a weakass 135lb champ in David Diaz.

I see this going the full 12 ala Pac vs Morales I - exactly the same style of fight as well.

Can't pick a winner yet though!

 

My sentiments exactly. I've seen a lot of threads started on this subject and have sat out of them because they descend into fanboy flame wars...

Hatton can be worn down, Pacquiao is not some invincible superhero and can be caught and hurt. Both fighters have advantages and disadvantages, although I personally would like Ricky to win, partly as I've been following him since early in his career. This is gonna be epic and closer than most people think.

Who knows, if it's as big and as close as some of us think it will be, who wouldn't want them to go for it again?

This is true. The fight should last longer than 5 rounds. This is Pacquiao's strongest opponent but not the best opponent he faced (that goes to JMM).

Pac Knocked Eric Morales down in the third fight off the back foot.
Pac is fast and Yeah he doesnt fight as well goin back but he is so fast he switches up the speed and direction and distance of his attacks so fast. I can see this fight going the distance Pac by UD.

 

I seriously think everyone is underestimating what Pacman is going to bring to this fight strengthwise. I do believe Pacman's trainers when they say that he is going to be a monster at 140. The guy has proven to be a freak, when ever they have said he has become faster, better balanced, added more to his arsenal, after hearing talk about him being one dimensional, too small for 126, too small for 130, too small for 147, he has pretty much shut those critics up with results. Now they are saying after fighting at 147 that he has grown into the weight and will be an absolute monster. Freddie Roach, Alex Ariza have disagreed with talk that Hatton will be the stronger man from what they have seen with experienced eyes. You can call it hype and it may well be, I think Ricky has a strong chance and I may be wrong but I take what Manny's trainers say very seriously as they have always lived up to their hype about him. It could go either way, but I also see an easy fight for either man.The sources of the hype alone though warrants the odds we see for this fight.

 

David Diaz has a really good chin. He took Holt's best blows and was still standing and was mad when the refs stopped the fight. Pacman will bring power and sources say it is much improved power. It will be a good fight.

 

What a fight! I mean talk about difficult to call.

However just read a conference call made with schaeffer and Hatton and hatton said quote " you didn't see the old ricky hatton in the malignaggi fight so you won't see the old ricky in this fight" " i can see this being similar to the malignaggi fight but"

Now this is significant because being a huge hatton fan i've followed every televised fight of his and i really believe the impovements made under floyd for the malignaggi fight were massive considering it was only a seven week training camp. Correct me if im wrong but i think he was only hit hard once in 11. That alone is a significant change. Now with a further 11 weeks with floyd and with the quote above indicating his plan, I think we could all be basing our predictions on a steamrolling Hatton, but i think this could be a very different hatton altogether on may 2. he might still use his closing tactics but i think what floyd is actually trying to bring to hattons game is patience, and to look for the right moment. Therefore the fact that pacman is so quick, elusive and throws combos could be less significant, as was seen with malignaggi. Don't get me wrong pacman is different class but i truly think after another 11 weeks with floyd we might barely recognise the new hatton we see on may 2 (stylewise).

As for hatton winning in five. I don't see it because this is looking more and more like a stale mate. This could like all the other over hyped superfights of the last 5 yrs be another disappointment. Not on the scale of a hopkins v calzaghe e.g. Ofcourse they'll be some exciting exchanges cos u can never take the hitman out of ricky hatton, and pacman is a born fighter as well, but i'm starting to realise having listened to floyd and ricky speak i really believe they're the ones who have to bring something new to the table something unpredictable or they're gonna lose. So it stands to reason that if they tie up pacman and stick to picking the right shots on the way in whilst using head movement and then beating on him like a slave, as he did with malignaggi when he had him tied up, could work! Messy but effective!

So this is how i see it:

Ricky gonna close on him early but not like a blinded bull more smart.
Hes gonna test his strength but gradually
Hes not gonna change anything if hes effective like he was with malignaggi
Therefore this has a distance fight written all over it

As for pacman hes gonna do what hes always done
in out foot movement throwing in bunches
and waiting for ricky to make a mistake.
I honestly don't think Pacman has been prepared for the new hatton
Freddie is banking on old hatton
This could be a serious error.

This fight is gonna be SD and whoever loses is gonna claim they were better!

Hatton struggled with Mayweather period, but he struggled more with him when he stopped closing the gap as fast. The reason he stopped closing the gap as quickly as he was before was, because he had gotten tired due to all the holding inside. When that gap was not being closed as quickly Hatton was getting raked with punches because Floyd had time to meassure him and to time his attacks and think about what to throw.

In the Collazo fight Hatton had his way for 5 rounds because he set a red hot pace from the start. However Collazo came more into the fight in about the 5/6 round when Hatton took the his foot off the gas and Luis had more time to think and pick his shots. He to was hitting Hatton with crisp counters when Hatton stopped pressing the gap. Hatton got a second wind in that fight and put the pressure back on after a few rounds. Debtable whether he still won the fight though, and he was hurt by a powder puff puncher.

I see the same pattern with Manny. He will bum rush Manny from the start have success, but then he will get tired and Manny will get his time and space and catch him coming in, if he survives Hatton's early outslaugh of coarse. Which i expect him to.

Worth pointing out he has been working on pivoting a lot, spinning out etc.

There's no point making comparisons with old ricky anymore. He has made a step forward. I know its hard to believe our beloved head down no nonsense ricky has gained some composure but he has. Anyone basing their predictions on Hatton (pre floyd) needs to re think. Cos both he and floyd know that old ricky can't win this one.

 

Ricky aint learned anything. Pad work is nothing. He showed nothing in the Paulie fight, it was the same old Hatton. He jabbed little more thats about it.

so you agree he did improve then. It might have been a small step but it was there to see. how significant a step after these 11 weeks is what i'm thinkin about. maybe not enough to trounce pacman but maybe enough so he doesn't get a david diaz makeover!

don't get me wrong i prefer to watch old ricky but i think everyones gonna be surprised by how hatton fights this one!
