Hatton will win within 5 rounds....

. . . hype or honest opinion . . . I'm not gonna dispute that because it is possible . . . if and only if Hatton hits the right target.

 

Me thinks there's been too much emphasis put on Ricky's strength by him and those who believe in him. I think Ricky will be surprised that Manny isn't the one-dimensional weakling that he's been describing in the media and I love how he keeps on harping about the 2 KO losses Manny suffered a decade ago. Also, it doesn't take just a Floyd Mayweather Jr. game plan and execution to beat Hatton. There's more than one way to skin a cat and we'll see Manny's way on "May sicand."

 

Guys...the fighter who wins this fight is the one who is most humble and doesn't underestimate their opponent. I think Manny's camp is underestimating Hatton's speed and unorthodox fight style...but, I think Hatton's camp is underestimating Manny's power and mental toughness.

Both fighters are capable of winning this fight. It's is going to be a lot closer than everyone thinks. In my mind, right now it's a toss up.

 

A few thoughts:

1) Manny will be strong at the wieght. He has spent long enough between the oscar fight and this one at the high wieght and the size difference will not be as big as Ricky fans hope. It won't mean that Ricky won't get the better of the clinches (cause he will) but does mean that Manny will be carrying enough size to take a shot at the wieght.

2) This whole Ricky's style is all wrong for manny crap is rediculous. Frankly backing away from a stalker when he's throwing a hook can be an extremely stupid thing if he connects with a well timed shot. The mosely Margo fight is a prefect example of how to fight this guy when you have speed and power on your side.

3) Manny has always looked his worst when you can counter his aggression and back him up. This is exactly Ricky's game. So again I don't see why this is such a bad style match-up for Ricky.

4) Ricky Does not need to change up his game that much to beat Manny. He only needs to apply it more intelligently.

5) Don't think I have ever seen Manny clinch when he's hurt or when his done throwing punches. This is going to be huge becaus I can't see when he's gonna get a break from running away from Hatton. At some point it is inevitable that Hatton will get his hands on him and having some experience in the clinch is a huge asset.


P.s. the guys that have given Ricky Hatton the most problems are guys that have a size and slip game good enough to nullify Hatton's inside work, while countering him with accurate counters.

 

I haven't gotten the impression that Hatton is under estimating Manny's toughness...maybe his ability to take a punch. but to be honest if Manny takes Hatton's Sunday punch and smiles at him I'll be the first to admitt I didn't callt that either.

That being said Manny's size will be less of an issue then many of Hatton's supporters think its gonna be.

Had this fight happened a few years ago (Pac/Morales I, Hatton/Tzsyu time), I'd lean heavily towards Hatton based on the fact that Pacquiao was a one dimensional fighter at that time. Manny has grown tremendously since then and is capable of so much more than the straight left that defined him at one time. I think Pac's speed along with his variety of punches (improved uppercut and right hook) thrown from all angles will be overwhelming for Hatton. One piece of advice for Ricky Hatton...study the Agapito Sanchez fight. He MAY be able to take Pac off his game if he bends the rules a bit and gets in Pac's head, MAYBE.

 

percentage wise pq has more ko that hatton. hence, pq can be logically presumed stronger than hatton. and anybody discounting the speed of pq as a big factor in winning the fight is in self denial. history can attest that when speed is supplimented with power it becomes fatal and the rate of success has been tremendoused. tyson, holmes, ali, mayweather, dela hoya, etc have done it.

 

Hatton has been fighting at a higher weight than Pac, so that's the real question. How will this fight go? I just can't pick a winner.
