he's not even close to the best British fighter in recent times.

even a lot of people that use to be Hatton huggers are sick of him and the garbage that comes out of his mouth.

    Not even close?

In the last 5 years he's number two behind Calzaghe.

Just about. Haye is catching up very quickly though, a few decent wins at heavy and he surpasses Ricky in my book

the guy said in his lifetime, so unless he's under 15 then I'd suggest bacon boy is way down the list.
a lot of people don't even think he's the best current 140lb fighter in Northern England.

Exactly , he's a good fighter , he seems like a good bloke too on the face of it but he's obviously not the best british P4P fighter and the 'doing it for the fans' and 'I'm just your average boy nextdoor' bull**** is starting to grate a bit unless you are a deluded fanboy , of course.

And maybe Gary Locket could go on a killing spree at 160. Until then lets leave it to the fights that have actually happened?

Comparing Lockett to Haye. Dear oh dear Gaz.

Could do, but I'm talking of an entirely realistic and plausible scenario here, even if you wouldn't like to admit it

Haye blasts out a couple of decent heavyweight contenders, whilst Hatton fights the overmatched Lazcano and Malifaggi (at best) and they will be pretty even, and a strong case could be made for Haye

I just find it laughable he feels he needs a warm up for Malignaggi. ****ing Malignaggi.

    He is a con-artist.

Mailgnaggi isa guy who made his name in a LOSING effort to a drained Cotto..he took a real beating. Then most felt he got a gift against Ngoijou, who is decent but come on for ****s sake...Malignaggi is not a top drawer fighter, no way

Dan, you know that wasn't what I was doing. I was making the point that "ifs" and "buts" don't mean a lot when ranking fighters. Lets see how good Haye is at HW, until then its all potential.

    "Could do", until then....

One could realistically argue Hatton has the 'potential' to be the best 140lb fighter again, but right now he isn't proving ****

    In the same boat really

What I do know is that Haye is looking to face the very best & for that he should be applauded greatly.
