Assuming he can still make light welter, he should fight Witter to see how much he's got left (I know its not ideal, but it'll settle a few disputes and i'd still watch), then step up against a average world level fighter who is beatable like Nate Campbell or Joel Casamayor (he is knocking on now, although he last fought at light welter has anybody seen it? and does he intend to stay there?) then hopefully marquez will still be around, so hatton can finally have the mega fight he craves for. If Hatton is talking about fighting more than once he needs to get his act together and slowly build on the level of opposition he will be fighting, as well as fighting 2-3 times in the next 12-18 months.

 

Hatton crushes bloody Katsidis, even with his current repulsive state taken into account.

To my understanding there is no offcial pound for pound "title" - there is Linear Champion or the more modern "Ring" title to recognise the best in a certain division. But there is no title for being pound for pound the best because there is no way of ever really proving it.

And Hatton is certainly never been a pound for pound fighter nest in any division- he simply is not on that level.

Ok at a certain period of time he was the main man at light welterweight - but never pound for pound the man.

The fighters your talking about on a pound for pound level are the Mayweathers and Roy Jones and Pernell Whitakers and Manny Pacquaio and even a prime Mike Tyson - real excpetional talents.

 

Are you serious? Katsidis would be a difficult fight for Hatton and would probably too fresh at this time in career. A younger Hatton when in his prime maybe; but age and conditioning would surely tell.

Witter was mentioned; but why? Would this provide the PPV purse that any comeback would require? I seriously doubt it; although I've always enjoyed watching JW. For whatever reason :roll:, this one never took place.

Whoever is sacrificed in the comeback, it will surely be Khan for the monster payday. I hope it doesn't happen as I don't think Hatton needs the dosh and it could be an expensive fight in other ways!

I think we would all love the top 2 but I think we all have a sneaky feeling it will not be them.

They are fighting May 1st. It would be good to see him face the winner in July.

It would be good to see someone like Hatton swallow his pride and fight a contender on the UNDERCARD of a big fight. If he did that I'd have no problem with him getting back into the swing of things. I just don't want no 60,000 in MEN bollocks.

 

Katisdis is VERY winnable for Hatton and if he can't beat Kats then its obvious he should retire.

I know Kats is a fans favourite (and with good cause) but he has had life and death fights with some pretty average fighters.

 

Not forgetting when Ray said that Ricky should never have gone through with the fight because of turmoil in camp

With Katsides Hatton is the bigger man (in terms of being at 140) tho so maybe his strength and power might be the deciding factor in the clinch? If he can ride Katsides storm and find his own shots who knows. I dont think rickys stamina would hold up to well either yet

 

Marquez is a good match up but for me to take him seriously he would have instead added Khan, Bradley or the Urango/Alexander winner.

The 'WBA regular' champ is a fight I will NOT pay to see, nor do I want to see him face a bl;own up lightweight with limited skills like Katsidis (unless it's a warm up for a bigger fight)
