So you're saying that in England, Ricky Hatton is the favorite over Floyd Mayweather?

I would give Hatton a 50-50 chance if:

    1. The fight was at Wembley Stadium
    2. The fight was at 140lbs
    3. A referee in his favour - to same extent Cortez was against him (not necessarily in favour of Mayweather IMO)

Unless those three conditions are in place, I would say a 1 in 5 chance - Hatton won't lose his rag again and will have a better idea how to do the job, and Floyd may not reach the same level of performance again.

Yeah...semantics: black or white, who cares - it's a colour!

If I told you had a 49% chance of pulling that gorgeous bird at the bar who laughed at you last time around, before pouring a drink over you head, would you consider that a small chance?

If you told me I had 49% chance of pulling a bird in those circumstances, I would tell you to put the money where the mouth is LOL

Damned right! You would say I'm having a laugh! You would consider 20% a very good chance, in those circumstances! And guess what...they are very similar to the circumstances surrounding Hatton's first fight against PBF!:good

Hatton has 2 chances which are slim and none. Slim is not coming to town for this fight. Hatton's chances are slim and none.

I agree with entirely, Sir. I am merely interested in seeing what this mostly neutral website has to say.

    1-20%.

I don't see why Hatton would get all of those conditions, given that he already lost to Floyd.

If Hatton's Mom Is The Ref, With His Dad In Floyd's Corner , The Fight Is In England And With All 3 Judges Being From Hatton's Immediate Family, Then Hatton Could Have A 10-20% Chance.... More On The 10 Side Than The 20!

For Hatton to have any chance he needs allot more than to fight in England.

    Namely:

    1) He has to keep his hands up. He kept getting caught with clean potshots because his hands were too low. He isn't quick enough to block, or move his head form Floyd's fast hands. Keeping his hands up will at least take something off the punch.

    2) He has to let his hands go on the inside. Holding and hitting, and mauling won't work with PBF. Especially if he gets a ref like last time. PBF is a master at holding.

    3) He has to forget the right hand to the head (for awhile). PBF, just leans away from it. That punch always goes over his head, or glances off his left shoulder. Then when your off balance he twists back with a right hand pot shot. All the Mayweathers have that same move.

    4) Throw the right to the body as much as possible. PBF likes to drop his left elbow and take that shot. After a while it will either score to the body or at least bother his arm/elbow enough to take someting off his jab. A left jab to the head, a right to the body, and finish with a left hook to head (7-4-1) is a combo I would try over and over, taking what ever I could hit. Easier said than done, I'll admit

    5) Learn to move his head, and don't stand so straight up as he comes in. Watch the tape, he has the same predictable move as he comes in. Feint left-right-step forward. PBF just started timing him with potshots more and more as the fight went on.

These are some big thngs to change. I think its always going to be a bad style matchup for Hatton in any case. Hatton would do better with the Catskill, Tyson style. His defense, and head movement would be better and it would take advantage of his body type. Right now he fights like a poor man's Duran, and its doesn't work for him. Not vs PBF anyhow.

In my view the only way to be beat PBF is same the way to beat all fighters like him. Guys like RJJ, SRL, and Ali, super fast guys that rely on super natural talent over conventional boxing methods. You have try and seperate him, from his talent. Meaning Hatton will never beat PBF matching talent vs. talent. You have to go after the man. You have to have the right mindset to develop a plan, and make it work. Even though you will have to probably have to take a ton of shots in the process. Its the way Frazier beat Ali, Duran beat SRL, and Douglas beat Tyson. To get PBF into deep waters you will need a great defense/chin, the conditioning to apply non-stop pressure for the whole way, and complete faith in your plan. Don't know if Hatton is the guy to do it.

    I think Cotto could.

I thought he won a few rounds in their first fight and was doing well early, but now that he knows PBF can hurt him when he rushes in I don't know if that will work as well for him. I voted for "very little" because I suspect he'll be somewhere around 3-1 in this fight, and although he has a chance, I really doubt it will go better this time around and will probably go worse.
