That's what I thought . . . I'm wondering whether the author of the article, Kevin Mitchell, just made those quotes up. They don't sound like something a 'close friend' of Hatton would say.

Like the "close friends" of footballers that are used to justify transfer muppetry?

The close friends thing is just a great way to make bold statements without being accountable as a journalist.

I don't beleive this ****...although looking at Hatton he didn't seem so confident when entering the ring....it was a bad choice of song too....Flloyd Snr didn't really give him any words of encouragment yet you had the Golden Boy crew (Hopkins Mosley) talking to him....... I certainly think his confidence took a baterring.....whether it was the training, the sparring or some bust up with Flloyd.....Hatton did not look Confident entering the ring..... I always like it when the Trainer enters with the fighter...... I think in the coming weeks we'll hear about how the Hatton camp was ****ed up.....just like how Ray Hatton turned on Billy Graham after the Flloyd Jnr fight......At the end of the day..... from the 1st Bell...Hatton walked into punches with his hands down like a fool.....There was no NEW Ricky Hatton and I blame Ricky not Flloyd

I agree. It might only seem like a small thing but I remember thinking at the time 'why's he coming out to this?'. Why did he choose to enter the ring first as well?

Correct. Then it's picked up and quoted by other media and before you know it being repeated like it's a fact without ever being sourced, and when it has probably been made up.

Why would someone say this unless they were prepared to go on the record? Can't see why the Hatton press corps would leak this either.

My favourites are when the tabloids have a 'story' about a celebrity couple going out together, an onlooker said 'they looked very much in love' or 'they couldn't keep their hands off each other' when that onlooker is a PR person working with the 'journalist'.

  14. Does anyone know why he came out first ??

I thought it was all sorted out months ago that Hatton would come out last ??

Apparently he chose to come out first. I have no idea why though.
