I watched the fight on Eurosport, does anyone else think the fight was actually a lot closer? I mean 119-109 - come on! It's also a mystery how Urango makes 140, look at Hatton yesterday, his ribs were almost falling out. Urango looks superstrong and not dehydrated. How does he do it? This content is protected
Urango doesnt abuse his body drink beer or eat copious amounts of pie inbetween fights. Thats called a well conditioned fighter. Ricky looked gaunt at the weigh in. I think his lifestyle has finally caught up. As for that fight the scoring was a joke. Ricky struggled in that fight. Theres no way the fight was that wide. I had it 114-113 Hatton.
So what about all the other 140lb fighters that arn't as big as Urango? Are they all on the pies and Guiness?
It was pretty bad scoring. But Hatton clearly one. One of those fights where every round was close, but I think Hatton would land the cleaner more flashy blows.
I remember thinking Hatton lost rounds 8-12 and probably should have been disqualified. He was just trying to survive those last 5 rounds, literally walking forward without throwing any punches and grabbing Urango. When the ref broke them he did the same again.
Hatton was holding on for dear life late in the fight,he was doing whatever he could to avoid Urango´s bodyshots. Hatton won but it closer than the judges had.
I thought Hatton won it clearly and boxed beautifully in the first half of the fight. Urango's punch output was **** so that didn't help him either.
Ricky barely ran out the clock in an ugly win. I suspect it would be very different in a rematch. Urango by KO.
It was a fair performance in hindsight and aside from a dodgy 5th Hatton largely dominated. I gave Urango 3 rounds max. He was expected to be well beaten thats why the fight is viewed negatively.
I think everyone has forgotten that Hatton fought that fight with a serious chest infection and was basically at 70-80%.
Urango has stick thin legs that's why. Hatton won comfortably. I had it 9-3 I think. Plus he wasn't 100%.
