IMHO Hatton's has never been an elite boxer. The only reason he got the "status" he got is because of his brittish fans. You know the Euro is doing better than the dollar. And brittish are spending lots of money here following Hatton.
if hamed couldn't make the HOF, hatton certainly shouldn't based on his record. however, his recordbreaking fanbase will be taken into account so he will make the HOF
thats true. but like someone said about hamed not getting in (yet), hatton came back from his loss and showed a lot more character and resilience and determination than hamed. that was a big part of hatton's appeal with the fans and he wouldn't have had the following he didn't make his mark in the US with good wins. he's definitely not an elite fighter, but he'll make HOF.
Hamed will eventually get inducted and so will Hatton, the HOf is a joke nowadays all you have to is win a title make a couple of defenses and you´ll get in.
he is not borderline imo...borderline applies to corrales, castillo, eubank and tapia he has a tremendous mainstream appeal and that is enough to get inducted..maybe not in his first year of eligibility
The Brits should of been backing Witter at least then they would of had a guy who had a chance against these last 2..Witter would of thrashed Ricky if he was given the chance..Most over hyped fighter ive seen in 25 yrs..1 legit big win and it was aided by a hometown ref and an aging kostya. Hatton has a weak chin, no defense and marginal power/speed
HOF?? Are you guys ****ing serious?! Hatton isn't HOF material man..... If guys like Virgil Hill and Dariusz Michalczewski are considered non HOF yet Hatton? No way, just no damn way. **** off.
Yes he is. Duran was KO'd in similar fashion if not worse by Hearns, it might have given people second thoughts about him but in the long run people still appreciate what he has done despite the major one-sided brutal loss. No, I'm not comparing Duran with Hatton just comparing their situations here.
The only chance Hatton has of making the HoF is for his somewhat iconic figure in the UK He's a good boxer, not a great one.
Some of you guys have a really high opinion of the HOF. News flash, they HOF is ****, they let guys with one world title like Barry McGuigan in there. You think Hatton with his 4 world titles, at 2 weights, his victores over 2 P4P elites, and the 6 defences of his linear 140 title isn't enough to get in the HOF? Be real guys.
he shouldnt. extremely overprotected. had around 40 wins before he fought a proper opponent, a shot kostya tzsyu. had kostya not been shot he would have finished hatton in a similar fashioned of what happened yesterday. every time he fought a world class opponent he not only lost but got outclassed. deserves a place in a british hall of fame but in the international one? no way.
