I think the Witter fight would be a better spectacle than Lazcano. Nothing against the Mexican, but was he actually trying to secure a fight until the Hatton's came calling?

Anyway - 15 points, who gives a ****, we're super Leeds and we're going up!

    Haha!

    Quality bit of perspective!

Yeah - I'm a Liverpool fan so obviously Leeds are a rival but you are too big a club to be down there! Would like to see you guys back in the Prem at the expense of a Wigan or a Reading next year. Good luck!

As for Hatton, Lazcano fight is simply a walk in the park after being KO'd against Floyd. After that Malignaggi. I would like to see Bradley v Torres and then the winner faces winner of Hatton v Malignaggi but if Hatton takes Floyd rematch and then Pac I wouldnt be too disappointed!

I agree, but we are in League 1 because we deserve to be there. Lots of Leeds fans are deluded (much like those of Spurs and Newcastle) in thinking that we are currently one of the seven biggest clubs in England. It is clear to anyone that the biggest clubs are Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea (scum), Liverpool, Everton, Villa and Spurs.

As a Liverpool fan, what do you think of Benitez - I personally think he is a crackpot and is very overrated. He doesn't seem to know the value of picking your best players each week, yet rates a striker (Kuyt) who couldn't hit the side of a bus and a left back (Riise) who is totally shot to pieces.

They have the makings of an excellent side, but need a bit of a clear out and some new owners!

Benitez - wouldnt have anyone else in charge!

Regarding Riise, to be fair Aurelio is more or less his first choice but he's too injury prone. I'm thinking he's going after Gareth Barry to fill in at Left Back. Kuyt- he's a conundrum. I dont rate Kuyt at all, but for Rafa to get us to two European Cup finals and a semi final in four years I think is incredible. Under Houllier we struggled to even get in the CL each year, but the only time we've struggled under Benitez to get in it is in his first year when we won it!

Still work to be done for the league though. Think we need two full backs and two wide players (although if Babel comes good next year then maybe just one) and a good sub striker if Torres gets injured. After that I think we'll be right!

Regarding Leeds - you are right, it has been your own making but I would rather see teams like yourselves, Forest and the Sheffield clubs (particularly now Warnock isnt there anymore!) in the premiership at the expense of Reading, Wigan, Middlesbrough and Bolton.

I think his record in Europe is excellent, and cannot be criticised. But at Premiership level he has been very ordinary for me - far too many draws against the lower teams with conceding silly goals etc.

I can see them doing better next year, if he gets Barry that would be excellent - they need more steel instead of the nancies he has in certain positions!

I think he has done the right thing with Harry Kewell though (just two years too late) - perhaps the worst signing Liverpool have made for a long time.

It would be good to have the 'biggest' clubs in the top league - i.e. fanbase, history etc rather than the likes of Wigan and Reading who have just bought their way in!

I am a closet Warnock fan, but don't admit it too loud because I take loads of stick for it!

Just pinched this from the general forum.

RICKY HATTON is planning a death-defying entrance against Juan Lazcano next Saturday.

The light-welterweight returns to the ring at the City of Manchester Stadium after the first defeat of his career to Floyd Mayweather Jr in December.

And Hatton is determined to show he has lost none of his bottle by having a KNIFE THROWER take aim at him.

Hatton, 29, said: “People will think I have flipped.

“When I do it people will say ‘He’s got some b******s to do that in front of 55,000 people’.

“I know the daggers have been out for me since the Mayweather defeat.

“It’s the biggest fight of my career because of what happened against him.”

    This is the last post I make on football in a boxing thread but just feel the urge to clarify a few things;

We dont concede as many as most - its just that the media picked up on the zonal marking system and its teething problems early doors and have refused to let it go - fact is - we have kept the most clean sheets in the premiership for 3 of the last 4 years now!

Harry Kewell - yes - waste of space. If he was a race horse he'd have been shot by now. You know until Gerrard signed his new contract like 2 years ago, Kewell was our highest paid player!!?? Disgrace. Houllier signed a lot of drift wood which we are still suffering for (financially) now.

I still think we need more fire power, yes we need strength in both full back positions now that Finnan seems to have aged, but we've only lost 4 this season (one less than Utd and one more than both Chelsea and Arsenal). For me though, 6 draws at home and 7 away is down primarily an inability to finish weaker teams off. We need someone of the quality of a Ronaldo/Joe Cole on the wing because we've got that quality through the centre in Gerrard and Torres but we need another option when things are too tight. But - alot easier said than done!

Honestly though mate - the zonal marking issue is a myth!

Although the entrance doesnt concern me, I am concerned that he may be taking this fight too lightly!

I will finish the football by agreeing that you do concede less goals, but the ones you do concede are often silly!

    Elle,

I am NOT a fan of Hennessy - I am a HATER, and proud to be one!

with the exception of further filling up his bank account, can anybody give me a valid reason as to why hatton should get another shot at mayweather?

i agree hatton don't deserve it.

beating lazcano and malignaggi ain't enough to earn it either.

but if floyd wants to play ball then let's see it again. :yep

even better if it's over here. :bbb

    Agreed!

Its a problem for Mayweather not Hatton... PBF should be thinking Cotto.

But I'd snap up a ticket if they became available! I want to see Hatton unify LWW first though but not sure he will. Malignaggi and then the winner of Bradley v Torres should be what the division is looking for
