PBF was Hatton's career highlight but as a result of his KO I would argue that there are now more questionmarks over Hatton's abilities and ranking. Despite a great record and notable victories, to some he has never beaten a prime opponent.
Now he has to prove himself by coming back from defeat with a major victory. Nothing less will do if he is to silence the doubters.
But- at 29 Hatton is no longer in his prime due to his boxing style and lifestyle.
Can he still operate effectively as a LW? Will he feel drained and does he still have the desire to get down to 140? I am not sure he does and his binge drinking won't help, especially at 29-30
The desire for a rematch with PBF means he may have to beat a credible opponent at welter IMO...

He either comes back wins and looks great and is judged to be of real class but lost to an all time great.

Wins and looks ok and is judged as another decent european who got a title.

Loses and looks like a pub brawler we were warned about by pbf.

What ever happens he will be remembered fondly in Britain.

He may even get to advertise flu jabs when he's older.

Ricky is a fraud and a conman of the highest order. He's a media creation backed by an army of ignorant fans.
How may elite fighters has PBF sparked like that? That gives you a clue into the level of Rikcy Hatton.
If he gets the stones to fight Witter, he gets exposed beyond doubt once and for all. Look for Rikcy to fight another handpicked guy though.

Cant really disagree there. Once he gets the cojones to fight a Witter or at least beat some of the best 140 has to offer may be he`ll get some respect from me. But not before.:nono

i hope hatton gets back on his horse. i think he lost to the best fighter at 147. but can still be major factor at 140.

    We will see.

Maybe Mayweather has ruined him. Like Tito-Reid.

It doesn't take Angelina Jolie or Bradd Pitt to say it to Ricky's mum. Ricky Hatton is just such an unbelievable do-or-die sort of individual and anything short of that is just disgracefully untrue. I have no doubts he is true world class caliber and technically refined... The hardest thing to do at this point should be not getting sold easily to the wrong assumptions on his crash. Hatton will prove em wrong because criticisers there are many, believers there should be some, Hatton made a believer out of me in defeat, believe me.

We'll see how the loss effects him for this fight, every fighter takes their first defeat differently.

OK give the guy a break.....He could fight Ricardo Torres then Witter Then Juan Diaz. All good paydays for him and fights that seem Competitive. I think he would gain a lot of respect if he did that.

Hey for 8 rds he was doing well againts PBF after that, he seemed to run out of gas and PBF took him out no shame in that. But he can now either retire or make good fights at 140 and I think it would be good for the sport. Just please no more talks of DLH please there are too many good fights for him at 140.

honestly I looked at the complete fight again. Take a good look you will notice Hatton after the 8th round no longer coming in with the same steam and this was keeping PBF on the defenssive you will notice Hatton wane on the pressure thats excatly when PBF goes on the offensive and 2 rounds later its over.
