Hatton said after the fight that he may have another couple of years in the game. Let's assume that's about 5 fights - who should he fight to:

    a) maximise his earnings;
    b) improve/maximise his legacy;

I know these may be mutually exclusive, so try to get a balance between the two.

    My suggestions:

    1. Winner of Pac/DLH
    2. Witter in the UK
    3. Mayweather rematch in the UK
    4. JMM
    5. whoever is the number 1 light welter/or holds most belts

    1. Winner of Pac/DLH
    2. Mayweather rematch in the UK
    3. Witter in the UK
    4. JMM
    5. whoever is the number 1 light welter/or holds most belts

    Next Up...

Winner of Pac/DLH (Please be Pac!!!)

Providing he doesn't get K.O'd, or preferably (for the case of my suggestions) wins

Juan Manuel marquez, who by then has beaten Juan Diaz/Nate Campbell/Edwin Valero (an impressive name at LW, even though Valero is overrated, would like to see Marquez school him) at 140 (obviously) A decent name who would likely be out of his depth at the weight, but would still be game and ready to fight. Be able to do what Pacman never did and beat Marquez impressively (it's crazy to think Marquez is thinking about fighting at 140 when he can probably still make 126!)

Winner of Holt-Torres 3 winner/Timothy Bradley; Hatton can now solidify his status as the dominant 140lber of the last ten years.

Victor Ortiz; And if all goes according to my plan, ortiz will have beaten a couple of decent guys and possibly picked up a belt. The (possibly with the help of Floyd Sr.) now wily veteran, known for his strength and ability to take a beating, takes on the young, seemingly more destructive, definitely goin to smash him up young champion.

One final swansong, it ends violently....but how?

I put Witter second, because I think he's in sharper decline than Hatton - it needs to be sooner rather than later to be competitive and legacy enhancing.

Witter would also be a good sharpener/warm-up for a Mayweather rematch.

I dont agree, why should he fight Mayweather AGAIN, when the result is not in doubt

And why pick smaller fighters comming up in weight

If he or his fans had any ambition and wanted to see him prove he is a good fighter then fight the best at 147, move up again and fight Cotto say, he just got beat by Margo and is still reletivly next to 147

    Why not fight Cotto next?

Oh, i now why, because that would be a real challenge where the bank balance after the fight may not look as good as it would if you fight an old timer in Oscar

If Hatton takes the fight i would like him to take V Cotto then there is absolutly no need to make plans for another 4 after it....

I find it very very difficult to see Hatton lasting 5 fights. I think we'll see weaknesses and ill-effects of age (relative to his style) and his lack of discipline in more testing fights.

I dunno about Hoya. I'm sick of him making irrelevant fights. I'd rather he retires and Hatton faces Pacquiao, whatever the outcome of Hoya/Pac.

    Then Marquez would be interesting.

Witter would be a great end fight, a grudge match, and a big fight at home infront of his fans provided Witter rebuilds.

    I don't see 5.

Well the thread is from Hatton's perspective - what would enhance his legacy AND make money. Mayweather is the only defeat on his record - beating him or running him close would greatly improve his legacy and make a shitload of cash in the UK.

As for Cotto, can he still make light welter?

I think it's clear that Hatton is the man at 140, but loses something essential when he moves up a weight. Ultimately, he is going to have to be judged as a light welter and be remembered as one of the best in that class.

Khan?!?!?!? Khan is NEVER going to be able to justify a fight with Hatton....honstly, his chin is terribly, and no defensive tuning can stop him from getting hit at least once in a fight! Even Sweet Pea dn Willie Pep used to get sometimes lol

I really do have the feeling that FM will come back to take on Hatton at Wembley..........i think FM will get joy out of denying ODLH a big payday and a chance to make history with a 100,000 crowd at Wembley.

Hatton would rather a rematch with FM for sure over OLDH; a chance to revenge defeat. Makes sense for FM as altho second time around i believe it will be closer, FM will still have the beating of him. His just way too classy.

    I'm a Hatton fan btw.
