People who make out Tyszu was shot for this fight are living in a dream world, the truth is that Hattons performance that night was outstanding.

I re-watched that fight this morning for the first time since it happened, its a fight you see haterz try and **** on day in and day out on esb with bull**** like Tyszu was shot, or that Hatton fouled his way to victory when the truth is that its a crime to try and diminish the brilliance of Hatton that night.

Hattons performance was absolutely relentless, his workrate was outstanding, he brought pressure to Tyszu for 3 minutes of every single round backed by a hugely supportive home crowd.

There have rightly been questions about Hattons chin later in his career but he walked through bomb after bomb from Tyszu that night, pressuring Tyszu, forcing him backwards, not giving Tyszu that space he needed to produce his best work, he basically bullied Tyszu into submission, he broke Tyszu's heart in the ring that night and in hindsight I'm not surprised that he never fought again after that fight.

I don't think any version of Tyszu could have beat Hatton that night and in hindsight Tyszu's own performance was hugely underated, Tyszu actually fought a great fight himself, he fought through great adversity and showed great heart in there, the points scores must have been very close going into the last.

Hatton's not a fighter I particularly like, I'm not that keen on that style of fighter but at this stage of his career he really was an elite fighter with good footwork, an underated jab and incredible workrate. Ballooning up to 14 stone inbetween fights probably hadn't taken its toll on hatton at that stage of his career, where as l do think that indiscipline inbetween fights had a detrimental effect on his workrate and chin later on his career.

One of the great nights for British boxing, and because of that its one the haters are desperate to stain

Compare this relentless granite chinned Hatton to the one almost KOd by feather fisted lightweight Lazcano. Its like two completely different fighters

One of Hattons biggest mistakes was replacing Billy Graham. They were - and should have remained - an inseperable team

But this is the Ricky Hatton i like to remember. Thanks for reminding me :thumbsup

completely agree, it was a poor mistake by Hatton, after a defeat so many boxers look at their trainers instead of looking at themselves, how the **** could hatton / mayweather snr have ever worked together :lol::lol::lol::rofl:patsch

His workrate in this fight was phenominal. What I didn't recall from watching this fight in a pissed up haze all those years ago was just how good Tyszu's performance was that night as well, he put up one hell of a fight and still might have edged it with a big last round.

This was a great fight and showed how elite both men were. Hatton earned the right to loose to the two best fighters of this generation. Pre-Mayweather Hatton had an outstanding chin. His style required it. I think the beating he took by bigger men later in his career, combined with not taking care of his body is ultimatley what did him in. 140 was his best weight, but it would of made no difference what weights he fought Floyd or Manny at.

    was it heck!

hatton got a gift when that bodyshot was ruled as a low blow, as he did in his first fight after mayweather with the undone laces!

It was a good performance but I agree with this, it was a legit knockdown. Tszyu was on top at that point, That blatant low blow that Hatton got away with was what took the steam out of Tszyu. I had Tszyu a point in front when he retired.
Hatton got away with a lot in that fight, Dave Parris is a disgrace to his profession.

I don't think Hatton would have beaten him if a competent referee was in there and in control.

Its hard to envisage hatton ever beating Mayweather but a fight at 140 in Manchester at that point in Hattons career would have been very interesting to watch, that type of pressure backed by home crowd and a referee that allowed the roughing up tactics.

Very good performance, but there are seeds of truth in pretty much all the commonly repeated nitpicks. (which is, you know, why they're so commonly repeated :yep)

Hatton was straight back up anyway and with regards to illegal tactics, Tyszu constantly hit Hatton behind the back of the head throughout the fight.

Would you like to hear that I cashed them all in for profile views? You know, to explain why I have more than four times as many as you? :D

(which, unless I'm mistaken, you Team Elite types prize even more highly than vCash...)

Maybe Tszyu would have carried on if it been scored a kd.

I would too if dragged into that type of fight. Further evidence of how **** Parris is.
