I think there's a myth that Hatton ever really had outstanding punch resistance. Above average certainly, but not outstanding. Tsyu wasn't able to floor him because he wasn't able to give leverage, becaus he never had room to fully unload that lethal right hand. If he had landed with full impact in that fight, Hatton would have been dropped then also.

Tszyu landed full impact shots to Hatton at he start of most rounds. Hatton's trainer was shouting at him between rounds telling him not to be so stupid to get caught by it round after round.

Bad habits in the gym and in the ring more like it.

Lifestyle choices would manifest themselves as stamina issues more, surely...?

Bad habits inside the ring are to blame for him getting knocked out. You cannot walk into punches with your hands down and expect to always hold up. It was a combination of him walking in and Manny timing the shot and hitting him right on the money that got him knocked out.

Hatton has never had a great chin. He just made up for it by being in great shape. Remember when he use to be like the energizer bunny & never stop?

His weight gain between fights would only really effect his stamina I believe.. which would not have been an issue untill later in the fight. The only possible factor might be alcoholic brain damage effecting how he handles head trauma. But then again I can't profess to know what his drinking habits are truly like, he might just be a steady social drinker, not a binge drinker.

Hatton gained huge amounts of weight between fights which is not good, but that is not taking anything away from Pac. Pac will knock Void out, but Void will never fight him.

all we could do now is speculate. hatton had all the chances in the world to prepare for the fight. what i saw in the fight was not a unprepared hatton. all i saw was a supreme PAC. a monster PAC actually. degrading stuff poor lifestyle/perfect lifestyle wont work for ricky when facing a monster like PAC. just my two cent.

Did you people not watch the Malignaggi fight? The Lazcano fight? Unless you are willing to admit that it affected him there, then don't say just the Pac fight.

Hatton is wide open to be hit, his chin isn't cast of iron, never was. He just ran into the 2 best fighters in the world and they put him on his back.

edit: I see you are going further back.

I thought he was toast against Lazcano and I actually gave Malignaggi a chance, but damn, he sucks worse than I thought.

No--pacman is just the better fighter.

Pacman has had wild nights too himself. There were a lot of articles mainly in philippines where it says pac is out all night partying etc. That's all good when he doesn't have to train for a fight. Hatton like pacquiao had 8 weeks to train for this fight. During those 8 weeks hatton trained hard just like pacquiao did. You know during training that he can't be going out partying all night cuz it will affect his training.

So hatton's lifestyle has nothing to do with him getting KTFO. Pacman is just the better fighter.

    No defense got him KOed

but to compare some hard partying to gaining 40-50 lbs. and then trying to cut it over and over again doesn't fly..
