Collazo because he's a big, strong, well established welterweight, who's bigger than Hatton. Mayweather beat him up coz he is a boxing genius, and Hatton is not, although I have a feeling Hatton's toughness was on the wane even at this point in his career.
After seeing the Lazcano fight it seemed obvious that Floyd beat the chin out if Hatton. This is how I was able predict PAC by KO within 4.
Yeah, that too, I'm not taking anything away from Pac, but lets be honest in 2003 Hatton was walking through Kostya Tszyu bombs like they were nothing, in 2008 he was getting hurt by Juan Lazcano. you figure it out.
those first 2 knockdowns were not from hard punches. Hatton never had a good Chin as you showed in you initial post. And yes, Ricky Hatton has developed a Glass Jaw. He has lost all his punch resistance.
You're right they wern't, Hatton was clearly befuddled with the amount of fast shots coming his way, 73 punches in 2 rounds tells the story.
The Magee knockdown was a bit of flash knockdown, Hatton didn't seem too hurt. He got up at the count of 2 if I remember correctly. Hatton was a young fighter, and Magee was the best opponent he'd faced at the time, so pointing to a single flash knockdown as "proof" of Ricky's weak chin is ****ing stupid. You're happy to point to the Magee knockdown and make a meal out of that, yet ignore the hundreds of hard, flush shots he took against real hard punchers like Ben Tackie, Kostya Tyszu and Vince Phillips. My question is, if Hatton's chin has been so poor from the start, how come it took two P4P elite fighters to stop him? Also, the Collazo thing, go find the tale of the tape and see for yourself who the naturally bigger man is. Or even better, go watch the fight on the internet. Collazo is definitely a lot bigger framed man than Ricky, that's one of the reasons he didn't do very well in the fight, coz Collazo couldn't be bulldozered.
I'm probably one of the few who actually watched the Magee fight. It was a flash KD and Hatton wasn't hurt by it. He clearly had a good chin at that stage in his career, as someone else pointed out, he took good shots from the likes of Tackie and Tsyzu, and if anyone hasn't noticed yet - he isn't exactly difficult to hit. Magee was able to knock Hatton down because he was a crafty southpaw and counter-puncher, and he was clever enough to realise that Hatton is at his most vunerable when he's relentlessly (and brainlessly) coming forward. IIRC, Magee spent the entire fight with his back against the ropes, goading Hatton to come forward. Much like Hopkins did against Calzaghe. Hatton had what? 40 fights before Mayweather? And had suffered one flash KD, from which he immediately recovered. Plus his style (or lack thereof) ensured that he ate shots against every half-decent fighter he ever fought. So, put simply, anyone who thinks Hatton always had a glass jaw doesn't know what the **** they're talking about.
****in' idiot, Thaxton never dropped Hatton, he cut him. Another person who goes by what they have read rather than what they have seen. Mosley was on ***** street from Forrest, has he got a **** chin? No, he's got one of the best chins of all time. Hatton has a decent chin, no more, no less. His punch resistance has dwindled somewhat, that's plain to see.
