Morning All There are a number of rumours going around by person and internet regarding Ricky Hatton renewing his boxing license and a possible comeback fight with Amir Khan. What are your thoughts on this, personally i would much prefer Hatton to keep away from the ring and contiune with his promotional bussiness and everything else he is doing, although if he did come back for a fight i would still go. afterall he has made his money and sounds like he is doing good at what hes doing now. thoughts??? G
He'd need a tune-up at around 147-150 first. No way can he drop back to 140 straightaway. I think it's too late though to be honest. Too much time has passed, too much **** has gone into his body.
He'd struggle to get down for sure, not worth it imo..He has nothing to prove anyways, i don't think anyone really wants to see him fight anymore.. But yeah, if he did decide to then i would definitely watch it at least and wish him luck, agree that he should just stick with the business.
He's not fought for 14 months. In between fights we all knew what he used to consume. In 14 months the thought of what he has consumed is terrifying. If he is walking around 12, 13st I think there are serious health issues to think of here if he went back down to 140-147. To train off the last 14months could place him in danger in the ring particularly that his foot speed will have slowed, his head movement will have slowed and his overall reflexes will have slowed. You allie that against someone with speed like Khan and it's a stretcher job waiting to happen. NO NO NO NO (Unlike his hero Duran he's never gonna do a glory comeback)
Definatley agree with you both it would be a real struggle to get back down to that weight, he would have to train crazy and keep to the books nutriton wise etc i guess its just a matter of time before we hear anything. G
i think Khan takes that fight at 147lbs anyway. Its will be a 1-2 round blow out again. Hatton cannot deal with anyone with speed. If Ricky wants to bow out, I have no problem with him filling the MEN agaisnt a Jan Zaveck at Welterweight, he has earned his stripes.
I heard an interview with him and it just sounded like his license had expired and renewing was just a case of keeping his options open.
I don't think he'll fight again. He's in dreadful shape, and for a guy with his style, what others options does he have - slick counter puncher?
You're right. To go out in the sort of war he wants is going to do more harm than good. A potential disaster. He's shockingly under rated , given what he achieved as a British fighter on the World stage;hopefully in time people will be begin to give him credit for his achievements, even tho the style in which he achieved wasn't exactly pleasing on the eye
Im not being boring mate, i have followed hatton for some time, i just would not like too see him get seriously hurt and i feel if he was to fight again, (depending on his opponent) that would happen. like many people have said hes got nothing else to prove, hes done what he has done and fair play to him. G
Dont know if its worth it cause he aint gonna beat the big names in the division, and think Khan even beats him now, sadly
it should be with witter at 147 or is he still not wanting a fellow pugilist to make decent money. Greedy ,fat, talk ****, fatton.
No. Hatton shouldn't come back, and he won't. I just don't see it. Khan would rip him to shreds at this stage and I see him getting stopped yet again. It'll only damage his reputation. I'll gladly go see it if it's in the Wembley Stadium though
