Hattons win over Urango

His win over Urango is marred by his persistent holding in the second half of the fight. Secondly imo Urango is good to a certain level but most world class boxers or solid champions beat him as he's one dimensional plus i get the impression he didn't really push himself to win he seems to let guys off the hook when he gets close.

He will always make you work for a victory. It's a good win but nothing more then that imo.

As for Collazo i don't think he won the fight and looked poor in winning but he was in with a pretty decent fighter so i say it's a good win on paper but i just don't think he won the fight so i can't give him props for it.

 

If Hatton had carried on his form from the first half of the fight through to the end, if could be classed as a great win.

His conditioning was shocking - maybe due to ballooning after the Collazo fight and the long lay off, he was visibly hurt with a body shot..... and relied on spoiling and guidance from his trainer to basically pick Urango's pockets.

 

It was only Hatton heart that carried through the Collazo and Urango fights in the latter stages. Both wins are underrated in my opinion.

However whilst that night at the MEN in 2005 retired Kostya it took the best of Ricky as well. However, Ricky went on pursuing the biggest challenges. He fought both Mayweather and Pac and whilst he lost at least he sought out the biggest challenges.

His resume should be looked at favourably. How many British champs have lost the title at the first or second defence? Ricky didn't lose at 140lbs until the Pac fight.

 

The Collazo win was marred by the fact he didn't end up looking like a winner. He lost the second half of the fight and was hurt badly towards the end. He really just sneaked that fight, myself and many others thought Collazo won. Perhaps the story of Collazo's career...

The Urango fight was awful which probably didn't capture anybodies imagination. Decent world class win.

 

The fact that Hatton struggled so desperately in both fights is evidence Hatton wasn't the elite superfighter he was put up to be, that said they were two decent wins. Prob the equivilant of Calzaghe beating Lacy and perhaps Reid.

 

Someone remind me who Urango and Collazo were before they fought Hatton.

 

Sometimes what a fighter does after is more important.

 

Bingo. I love the anecdotal reflective maths that goes on in this place. Judging Hatton on his performance alone (which is of course all that matters) in both fights and it was a very poor show. Somehow though Hatton gets some kudos? On the basis of what exactly? Seriously someone break down that logic for me as im just not getting it.

 

Not in this case. Hatton foight two guys that prior to the fights neither man was even heard of or even considered as a threat at 140 or 47. Subsequently both mens careers still havent amounted to much and Hatton somehow is given kudos off the basis of someone else's peformance? How the **** does that one work?

 

Urango is still not very good and Collazo is still pretty poor.

It was more the manner of the defeats that let him down.

He hung with PBF for a while, but Floyd if anything is meticulous and takes his time, taking minimal risks that might expose him to harm. He ended up blowing Hatton out late.

Pac just blew him away straight off the bat.

 

Totally agree. Floyd i think went out of his way to show people he can fight inside with a brawler like Hatton. He seemed dead set on working in pocket with him rather then pot shotting from range. He took a risk that night but actually it wasn't a risk really as he's sublime in the pocket and showed how easy it is for him to fight on inside.

Where as Pacquiao just went out there and done what he had to do. It was as if Floyd wanted to bust Hatton up for a long time. Plus he was planning that Check Hook for a long while in the Hatton fight.
