The way i saw it was that the Mayweather's didn't want to look like they were being controlled in any way by Arum.
But then i look at Mayweather's other fights at the higher weights, notably welterweight. He took on Judah after defeat to Baldomir, he took on Hatton who clearly struggled when both up against a welter and up against a slick boxer (see Collazo), then he retired and allowed Margarito and Cotto to tear crap out of each other and returned against a lightweight.
I give him much credit for the Mosley win but the facts are there, Mayweather only takes a fight when he knows his "0" can be secured. I believe he only fights when he knows he can win and right now, he isn't too sure about beating Pacquiao.

No one really recalls Floyd himself indicating on MTV w/50 Cent that the "biggest fighter ever" was on the horizon for this year either. I'm sure he wasn't talking about a potential show down with Tim Bradley.. I'm really not sure why there is anyone left who still siding with Floyd on this...

I mean you can still like him and everything but that doesn't mean you gotta agree with all the bull**** he is feeding the public.

I'm like this.....Floyd ain't gotta say the words. I KNOW he don't really want the fight. If anyone is expecting Floyd to come out with the truth don't hold your breath....I'm not. But I'm also not ******ed enough to allow him to make the fool out of me.

Floyd has taken some hits from the mainstream media. Believe me, this hurts him.

Remember Roach's "We accepted all of Mayweather's demands, the ball is in his court" statement? I think Arum is telling the truth.

They called Floyd's bluff. He doesn't want the fight. Simple as that.

NIcely stated. :thumbsup Floyd's too much business man...too much a DLH wannabe. Sadley, not that's trickled down to no-names like Bradley and Williams who are looking for major payday fights whilst ignoring other challenges deemed 'beneath' them...

the real question that needs to be addressed...

will this move back 50 Cent/Money May's collaborative rap/diss song of Pac until the fight?

is floyd pulling a ray leonard with all these retirements and break talks. Waiting for pac to have a poor showing before calling him out and finally signing the contract. I agree it makes no sense for floyd's camp to say there were no negotiations and yet not make a public statement, seeing as how it was being reported everywhere that negotiations were indeed taking place. ******ation.
It's down to a lack of alternatives. Unfortunately there isn't a Leonard, Hearns or Duran there to challenge Pacquiao now, so some sections of the media i believe are happy to dance around Mayweather's "cherry picking".

Look, Mayweather said it himself. "He's in the cheque cashing business". He did not grow up thinking, i'm going to be a warrior, i'm going to fight and beat the best and leave the sport undisputed over my greatness. He grew up and realised his undefeated record and brash personality alone was enough to reap huge financial rewards, there was no need to take the best on at their peak and beat them, and he continues to show no indication of doing so.

I personally can't wait for Mayweather to retire. I hate his personality.
Say what you like about how limited Williams is technically, how old Martinez is, how plodding Angulo is, how shopworn Cotto and Mosley are, and how open Pacquiao can leave himself at times, at least they are prepared to fight the best and not be afraid to have those flaws exposed in public.
They are the kind of personalities boxing needs, not cashlovers like Mayweather.
Well put!

Mayweather needs to **** off back to retirement. He dangled the promised Pac fight in front of people's faces so he could look credible and bring that much more money. Now that the swindle is exposed, there's nothing else left to do.

I have the felling that any serious negotiations ended before Pacquiao fought Clottey and Mayweather fought Mosley.

I suspect their has been talk since than but never anything serious.

I doubt anything has been agreed on by both parities.

Stop defending Floyd. Even Toopretty gave up on Floyd. Floyd decided to take a vacation yet you can't find fault on that? :-(

Then why is team Mayweather silent all this time? What is the use of a gag order when there is no negotiation taking place?

Exactly!! How can there be a gag order if there's never been anything to gag? Seems to go right over the heads of some floyd fans.
